a place for zinesters - writers and readers
Howdy. I used to be on We Make Zines a long time ago. And, I was on for about an hour a few weeks ago! Until I had a panic attack and deleted my account! Which, I feel is a good way to start the obligatory personal bullshit that is supposed to go here... My name is Patricia, I have two cats, I panic and all sorts of other things! And, I have a lot of spare time on my hands - which has led to me engaging in creative endeavors again.
But, basically, I am just on here to trade. I have a perzine, Plague Doctor, and a series of mini zines, called Schmovies... Which is about movies. Below are the zines I have to trade. Feel free to contact me about trading or anything else your little black heart desires.
Plague Doctor #1 (1/4 size, 20 pages)
For the first issue, I wrote about how I was into zines years ago and why I then really fucking started to hate the whole zine thing. It relates to something else I wrote in it, about hiding who you are from everyone. I also wrote about how I found therapy more harmful than helpful. Plus some other schtuff, including poems and shit...
Plague Doctor #2 (1/4 size, 20 pages)
The theme of the pictures in this zine are pets! This issue has stuff I am grateful for and stuff I fucking hate! It also has stories about past friends and a review of my favorite album, poems, etc, etc...
Plague Doctor #3 (1/4 size, 20 pages)
For this issue, I wrote about how much I hate facebook, some true crime shit, what it is like daily to have schizoaffective disorder. And all sorts of other things...
Schmovies #1 (1/8 size mini zine, 8 pages)
A review of the movie One Hour Photo, starring Robin Williams. It's one of his lesser known works and is NOT a comedy. The themes I touch upon are obsession and isolation, reaching the point of desperation.
Schmovies #2 (1/8 size mini zine, 8 pages)
This one's about Funny Games, starring Naomi Watts, Tim Roth and Michael Pitt. A couple themes touched upon are privileged white males behaving badly and where art and reality intersect.
Schmovies #3 (1/8 size mini zine, 8 pages)
This is a commentary on the films of Todd Solondz, my favorite director. FYI, his films cover a lot of uncomfortable topics, including pedophilia and rape, so if that is too much for you, I would suggest you don't read this.
Schmovies #4 (1/8 size mini zine, 8 pages)
After writing about Todd Solondz, I decided to write about something... Nice. So, I wrote about crushes I had on cartoon characters as a wee one. Not particularly a text heavy type of deal, but fun, I guess.
Schmovies #5 (1/8 size mini zine, 8 pages)
This issue reviews Scorsese's 1980 film, Raging Bull, with Robert De Niro. The main aspect I write about is insecurity and it's relation to egocentrism.
Schmovies #6 (1/8 size mini zine, 8 pages)
I don't hardly find any movies funny. Which actually sucks. But, this issue is about bits from movies that actually made me laugh... That very well may not be funny to other people! Some of the movies are well known, like Walk Hard, and some are very obscure.
