I'm a Michiganeer living in Canada. I like Lake Michigan, industrial splendor, fireflies, monsters, bone, ice cream mochi and black sesame caramels. My current zine is called Monstress. I've been making it since 2001 and am on my 11th issue. Each issue is organized around a different monster and then has related material--homemade pulp fiction, comics, letters, movie reviews, historical material.
Some other zines I've made:
MadCow 1-10; Bacteria!; Life On Mars: A Bacteria! Comic; Seize the Means of Production;
Tuebor: The Michigan Zine; Graveyard Alive: A Zombie Nurse in Love; In the Cultural Gutter; Color All Monsters! Coloring Book.
You can see Monstress and some of the other zines at my
ArtFire studio or at
etsy.
I've run a lot of zine workshops for girls and young women and I also put together the zine component for Queer Reflections, a multimedia biography project for Queer seniors.
I also write about comics for
The Cultural Gutter, a website dedicated to disreputable media and genres. I've been the Gutter's publisher since October, 2007. You can
read the Gutter on Facebook, too.
I've read twice for John Crye's
You Will Not Make It In Hollywood podcast. If you'd like, you can hear me read "
Frank Miller's Hot Gates" and "
Godzilla vs. MechaRealism." Guess which one features me with a cold. John's a member of Fewdio, a collective that makes horror shorts. Watch'em
here.
As if that's not enough, I write about movies for the
Toronto International Film Festival Midnight Madness Blog.
I'm also freaked out to be an editor for Jim Munroe's comics,
Therefore, Repent!,
Time Management for Anarchists and
Sword of My Mouth.
