She was ready for anything...

it was decided recently that i might only make zines because i like the smell of toner and i really like watching photocopying robots do their job.

i build two different zines.
one is a perzine called 'she was ready for anything'
the other is a storybook zine called 'misery is my muse'.

i have been building zines on my own and in groups since 1999/2000ish.

i have the phrase 'cut & paste' tattooed on my feet as a tribute to my zinester-ism.

during the day, i make clothing and run a concept shop/contemporary gallery in downtown barrie, ontario (just north of toronto). i don't build nearly as many zines as i used to because of this. i'm going to try to work on that.

i am always up for a trade, i am building an extensive library of zines not built by me.

sometimes my zines are for sale:

hypothetically.....

what do you do when you have a bunch of ideas for mini zines and other projects in your head, but the current state of your city beats the creativity out of you with a stick?

i don't want to build things at work (this is hard, considering i'm a fashion designer), when i come home i don't want to build things that aren't work. i mostly just want to lay on the floor. something epically horrible is happening to my downtown. more friends are closing their stores. so when will it be my turn to fully… Continue

i just thought you should all be aware

that this ever growing community has made my life.
i can barely keep track of the trades i'm currently involved in. i have zines waiting in my mailbox at least once a week. i have comments from people who like what i've written and want to read more. i've run out of issues and had to get more copied.

i feel myself falling in love with zines all over.
thank you to all the people i've traded with. thank you to all future trades as well.

when i was in high school, people wrote zines. and i wrote… Continue

oh, lovely. I'd love to do a mix cd, but my main computer died, and the only thing I have now is a little netbook with no cd drive. so $5 and a couple zines it'll be. (I've already sent you Ordinary Issue 1 and 2, right?) 11 was the one I liked the best, but I'd be happy with whatever you have available.
thank you so much! I'm off to the post office tomorrow, so I'll get those off to you. I'm so glad I found you here, I really enjoy your work!

oh thank you, that's very sweet. I don't have many finished/printed zines right now (again... money, I hate being a student!), but would you accept maybe $5 and a couple of zines? :)

hey, I was just lurking your etsy site, and I fell in love with the idea of shoplist (well, and basically everything you've made). I don't have a credit card or any way of buying over etsy yet, so I was wondering if you accept well concealed cash? your zines definitely look worth the little money I have.

hey there- I absolutely LOVED your zines. they're definitely up there in my favorites. your writing is so beautiful and poetic, and I love your use of images. it was just all around fantastic, and I'd love to see more. any time you want to trade, I am more than open to it. :) thank you so much for sharing!

Ah, yes! I am struggling to write a large amount. I am hoping to revise a few that I have already made so that they are a bit lengthier. Any tips?

I also received your zine. I got it some time this week and have been lacking in communication skills due to a hefty work schedule. (Who knew being a waitress and a petting zoo caretaker would drain so much energy out of you!?)

Anyway, I havn't gotten around to reading it quite yet but I am very eagar to open it up. Can't wait!

Thank you so much :) it means a lot to have positive reviews, especially for a zine I really worked hard on.
I'll let you know when #3 is available.
