Profile Information

I use zines as a platform of expression, writing and creating about topics that people don't often talk openly about. I want alternatives to the corporate versions of life, disability, sexuality, gender, resistance, hardship, surviving and fucking good everythings.

I am miscellaneously located- having lived in three different countries over the last year but my feet are set to steady themselves in Brighton, England where I plan to escape from the real world and back into studentship.

So far the assortment of zines I've written or helped compile are Get A Grip: Travels Through My Mental Health, I Am Not the Rain: Navigating Life As Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse, Pathologize This!: A Mental Health Zine (ed 1 & 2), Reproduce Freely: A Reproductive Autonomy Zine/Reproduire en Liberte: Un Zine sur l'Autonomie Reproductrice, and Out of Order: Queer and Trans Youth Resistance. I'm also in the midst of compiling a zine on graduating into unemployment, please submit a piece if you're interested!

I'm into anti-oppression zines, queer zines, evocative zines, quirky zines, or beautifully laboured pieces of love that make me look at things differently. I'm totally up for exchanges. I'd like to give copies of my zines away for free but sadly the printing and postage costs are catching up with me so if you'd like to order copies maybe we can work something out so that we both end up on the plus side of our bank accounts. Feel free to get in touch with me- for ordering, for feedback, for general thoughts and whatnot at sarahtearex@gmail.com or go to my new webpage Sarah Tea-Rex Home Page or to order zines go to Sarah Tea- Rex Etsy Shop

Microcosm, it’s time for change

Posted on July 1, 2012 at 9:41am 0 Comments

Over a year ago I wrote a letter to Microcosm Publishing expressing my concerns with their continuing to involve an abuse perpetrator in their organisation. They never responded to me. This week, there are many more of us writing- united- to Microcosm. This time I hope we’re too loud to be ignored.

Here’s the …

Zines in Video!

Posted on January 15, 2012 at 7:04am 0 Comments

A few years back I gave my friend Jackie a copy of my first zine, I Am Not The Rain, which I put together with my friend Amber. It’s a zine about a lot of things, mostly about life after experiencing childhood sexual abuse. Jackie was quite excellently awesome and asked Amber and I if she could turn it into a video story. The video also turned out to be quite excellently awesome. I have wanted to get it…

restock and zine smoking barrels

As a result of being rather hectic these past few weeks as well as the cumulative effects of vengeful technology’s refusal to cooperate with me, I have had a bit of a zine lull. But I am now back in the swing of things!

The Sarah Tea- Rex Etsy Shop is now stocked with copies of all of my zines- so they are ready to be ordered and sent to you all! I have managed to get a copy of …

Boycott Microcosm, Support Survivors

Posted on January 3, 2011 at 5:30pm 0 Comments

I have started a zine blog (http://sarahtearex.wordpress.com/) where I originally posted this but as a part of my protest, I wanted to spread the word to the We Make Zines community, so here it is...

In my last post I was excitedly nattering about all the zine happenings in my life. Among these was hearing from Microcosm that they wanted to distro a zine of mine. Somehow the background on the founder and collective member Joe…

Get a Grip sounds really interesting - want to trade that for the Here In My Head #9?  Message me your address! :)

Also, I'm interested in contributing to your zine about graduating into unemployment - is that project still ongoing?

ha, thanks. i'm still suspicious of it. for one thing i can's work out how to mke my blog not be in arial.

do you have any sage advice on turning zines into pdfs? i used acrobat professional to put mine together, and i can't get it a normal size without seriously compromising the image quality. i mean, what's a normal size for a black and white zine, 10mb? mine's 250. gah!

I would love love love to trade with you! Get A Grip and I Am Not The Rain were both incredible. If you email me your address, I'll send you my perzine and my address. As for putting my zine around, well gosh, you sure know how to make a zinester blush. I gave a copy to Lizzy from Marching Stars at Ladyfest and she said she'd get back to me; I don't know much about community centres and the like.

Hi Sarah,
I had the pleasure of discovering Get A Grip at St. Mark's Bookstore in NYC recently. I will write you a gushing email about it soon, but anyhow, I wanted to let you know that I'm including a review in the new issue of my zine Absent Cause, which will be out mid-July. Please let me know where I can send you a copy.
