Telegram Ma'am issue twenty-two now available!

Posted on January 19, 2011 at 5:55pm 0 Comments

Issue twenty-two of my perzine, Telegram Ma'am, documents some of the happier times of 2010, which I consider my best year so far - though I intend to make 2011 even better. I traveled quite a bit throughout the year, moved back to the city I'm in love with, and did a lot of hard work on my mental health and self-esteem, so that's what this issue is about. I've written about:

- being zinester-in-residence at the Anchor Archive in Halifax, Nova Scotia

- attending the 10th Annual…

I made this zine as zinester-in-residence at the Anchor Archive / Roberts Street Social Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia in July 2010. This is a very text-heavy zine, about 10,500 words. In Telegram Ma'am #20, I write about:

- being on disability (and dealing with a lot of stupid questions about it)

- thinking about ways of "contributing to society" outside of conventional job settings

- money stuff that I don't really like talking about but had to get it out of my…

Upcoming Zine Residency and Other Travel Adventures

Posted on June 29, 2010 at 3:00pm 0 Comments

I'm gonna be in Halifax from July 5th - 18th doing a zine residency at the Roberts Street Social Centre; a list of all the 2010 residents and their projects, including a few friends of mine and other lovely folks, can be found here. I'm nervous, of course, but excited as well. I've been looking forward to this for a long time, and was so surprised when I was accepted for a residency, that I… Continue

Telegram Ma'am issue 21!

Available in my Etsy shop: http://schoolformaps.etsy.com

Spring is here! Intoxicated with the sunshine and flowers, I banged out issue 21 of Telegram Ma'am on two of my favourite typewriters within about a week or so. This issue is fairly different than more recent issues of my zine; there is less focus on mental health (though I do include a short list of things that have been good for my…

I'll start lurking about the center as soon as I'm well. have an absolutely fabulous night, I really wish I could be there!

welcome to Halifax, Maranda :) I saw a flier for your mental health talk thing- I will definitely be there, though possibly a little late as I might have to work until 7. But I will be there! I'm very excited. I will probably be shy and awkward. I hope you understand. :P

Would you be up for a trade or 2?

I ready one of your zines (one with the cat on the front) and LOVE LOVE it.

Just discovered your zines through your split with Tukru. I enjoyed it muchly and will be ordering more of your zines, probably through a UK based distro. But anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for putting your zines out there & inspiring me!

Hi Maranda! I want to read your zines. I heard about them from tukru. If you can message me your address, I will just send you my zine and then when I have an address in Nicaragua you can send yours there. I want to read the split you did with tukru, but you can send me whatever zine you want as a trade. I'm sure I'd like any of them. thanks! xo kor

Hi Maranda, I'd love to get hold of a copy of Telegram Ma'am 19! We could trade if you want? I could send you a copy of my zine plus a long letter? Or I can buy it using Paypal if you don't want to trade, your choice. :)
