Zine Librarian Profile

For the Zine Librarians intros and profiles, here's my story:

I founded and curate the Barnard Library Zine Collection in New York City. Our current collection development policy is:
Barnard's zines are written by New York City and other urban women with an emphasis on zines by women of color. A woman's gender is self-defined. We collect zines on feminism and femme identity by people of all genders. The zines are personal and political publications on activism, anarchism, body image, third wave feminism, gender, parenting, queer community, riot grrrl, sexual assault, and other topics.
We attempt to collect two copies of each zine, one for the climate controlled, acid-free archives and one for the browseable, circulating stacks. Our users are primarily scholars, but we also get undergrads, researchers, and zine lovers.
We're also on Facebook, Flickr, LiveJournal, and MySpace.

I do a zine called Lower East Side Librarian and have a blog by the same name, with mostly non-overlapping content, though I'm not publishing book and zine reviews in both places.

My other library/activist project is Radical Reference.

Since I can't seem to figure out how to add this info to my profile, the main zine I make is Lower East Side Librarian Winter Solstice Shout Out. The last couple of years I've been publishing my reading log separately.

I've also made a couple of one off zines and contributed to comp and other zines.

By day I'm the zine librarian at Barnard College. My personal website is… Continue
