Barnard's zines are written by New York City and other urban women with an emphasis on zines by women of color. A woman's gender is self-defined. We collect zines on feminism and femme identity by people of all genders. The zines are personal and political publications on activism, anarchism, body image, third wave feminism, gender, parenting, queer community, riot grrrl, sexual assault, and other topics. We attempt to collect two copies of each zine, one for the climate controlled, acid-free archives and one for the browseable, circulating stacks. Our users are primarily scholars, but we also get undergrads, researchers, and zine lovers.
