Hi everyone, I'm Fevvers.
I've been running a rock and roll zine for over five years now, but I've put that on the back burner for a while in favour of finally getting to grips with launching my own perzine, something I haven't had the guts to do before.
I love music and I love writing about music but the 'scene' that comes with it - in London at least - is doing my head in. I can't compete with people willing to sell out or kiss ass (or worse) to make it in that industry. There is more to life.
I have an interest in issues surrounding mental health, from personal experience and from my work (for a mental health charity), so please get in touch if you have a mental health zine. I have already discovered some great mental health-related zines but am keen to find more.
In an ideal world I'd like to bridge the gap between mental health zining and the survivor movement here in the UK and start promoting zining as an activity that can connect mental health survivors with one another, help them share their stories and help educate a wider audience and battle stigma surrounding people categorised as 'mentally ill'. I know there are loads of you out there doing this kind of thing already.
I'd like to run zining workshops / get-togethers in the London area in an attempt to reach out to people accessing mental health services, or experiencing mental distress, who may not know about zining and what a great tool it can be for expressing yourself and learning about people who have have had similar experiences.
So if any of this sounds interesting then get in touch.
But aside from all this, I want to meet some like minded people and start trading zines!
Over and out for now,
Fevvers x
