About me:

I write one-shot litzines that are alternately magical, strange, and kind of sad. Short stories, letters, and the occasional random bits.

My newest zine is Further Distractions. I have it up on Etsy, or you can contact me for my address to do it the old fashioned way.

Older zines are Everything Good and Beautiful, I Have a Song for You, and Potentially Heartwrenching Distractions. I live in Santa Cruz, CA.

You can see more about my zines and stuff at www.bucketsiler.com

Bucket Siler replied to KellyRose-Pulse Zine's discussion leaving your zine in random places?
"The very first zine I made was a free quarter-sized poetry zine. I made about a hundred copies and left them around, in various free zine racks, sent them to friends, etc. Photocopying was also way cheaper then (this was 2004 or thereabouts), so I…"

Bucket Siler replied to andy michelsen's discussion Zinesters who are Screen Printers
"I used a print gocco to make the covers for one of my zines. Which is *kind of* like screen printing, but lots easier. I really love it when I can tell someone has put hand-done touches on their zine, it makes me much more likely to pick it up. The…"

Bucket Siler replied to Anders Dreyer's discussion How do you use Facebook for promotion and sale?!
"I have a little Facebook fan page, but I think most people find my zine at bookstores, distros, or when I table. I use my Facebook page and website to communicate with people about when I'm going to be at events or when I have a new zine out,…"

Bay area hello!

In a little bit of a zine slump. Moving has put a damper on keeping up with things, but I plan to hit up SF Zine Fest in September. If anyone has any good Bay area zine secrets to share, share! So far I've been to Rock Paper Scissors and Pegasus, which both have nice zine selections. Can't wait to explore this big, wide city...See More

Bucket Siler replied to Hannah / Frothy Press's discussion Pricing Zines
"I decide my price based on how much it costs to print and if there are any hand-done elements. As others have mentioned, prices for printing and postage keep going up. For the most part I do shipping separately, so for my black-and-white photocopied…"

Bucket Siler replied to Aj Michel's discussion Zine Making Regrets

Bucket Siler replied to Elaine's discussion Has anyone made use of Kickstarter yet?
"I've used Kickstarter to raise the funds to print two of my zines--my newest one, Further Distractions, that just came out last week (yay!), and the comic zine I made with Frey Anya, Everything Good and Beautiful. Both times I made my goal.…"
