Profile Information

Currently, I play in a band called Nightwood and we recently put out a zine called Caravan: A guide to indie touring.

Find it on Etsy! More on our site! Excerpt in latest Broken Pencil magazine!

Nightwood has made a wee how-to/skill-sharing zine about how to tour independently. We think it’s good karma to share wisdom, ideas and information with other artists.

Folks at the shows and fellow musicians have really been enjoying it and have made their own plans for new content to add to the next edition (best cheap breakfast spots in each city, that kind of thing!). We made the zine to share info and ideas about how to best tour without any presumption that we're experts and totally in the attitude of sharing. Here's what's inside of it!

* Why Tour?
* How?
* When?
* Where?
* Get Organized
* Promotion
* Finances
* Touring on the Cheap
* Etiquette
* Merchandise
* Health
* Driving
* Crossing the Border
* Recipes
* Getting Support, Resources, maps and drive times....

As well as contributions from Maia Davies (Ladies of the Canyon), Akira Alemany (Modernboys Moderngirls), David Read (Vinyl Record Guru), Mike Rollo, Menno (Hollerado), Alex Cairncross, Sherwin Tjia, Tessa Smith (Brave Radar), Alex Cooper (Parlovr), Eric Y. Lapointe (formerly of Nightwood and Biffy Perdu), as well as many others and all of us in Nightwood.

"If you don't like what you see out your window, the most subversive
thing you can do is make your own vision. If criticizing sex is so important, then where are our role models? Who do you think is going to make erotic expression meaningful to you if not yourself? "
- Susie Bright, Full Exposure

Lickety Split is a pansexual smut zine dedicated to encouraging sex-positive expression and thought. The zine promotes collaborative art making and encourages diverse contributions to climb into bed with one another, because one sexual expression just does not satisfy. Lickety Split wants to help make the masses cum with smutty photography and art, essays and stories in order to fulfill the whole human being and address the complexity of sex.

I founded this zine…

Zines about music, being in band, that kind of thing.

Hey zinesters,

Just wanted to share that my band NIghtwood is thinking of embarking on a wee zine project and we've set up a poll to gather your opinions as to what we should write about.

We posted a blog about this today called We (heart) zines, do you? There's also info about a zine making workshop in Montreal that's happening over at the Ste. Emilie Skillshare… Continue

Thing about making a "personal zine"...

...It's been a long time. I've recently learned how to silkscreen, so I'm going to do the covers myself. Maybe I'll make 50 of them and kind of approach it differently than with Lickety Split (no judgment there- that magic deserves to be spread around!).

What I mean is, I'm rethinking my relationship to the format. I think I will:

- Not plan the zine

- Produce all the content myself

- Use screenprinting and photocopy printing methods

- Maybe try to get them in out… Continue

I've been trying to order Lickety Split on indyish.com, but can't complete the transaction. Every time I click on "set shipping," it takes me to a page that has nothing to do with shipping. I really want to buy copies of your zine! Is there another way to get it?
