Hey Ciara
I reckon £2 is more than reasonable for such a mammoth sounding zine! I've picked up both of the previous issues from Tukru I think (couldn't think who else may have had them...Lizzy marching stars maybe?) and enjoyed them; so lets see if it can be made into a hatrick! Will be interesting to read the split side as I haven't come across it before. Anyhoo have paypaled you as a gift so that they dont go thieving money from you. Looking forward to reading it:)
Hello Ciara! I run Honey Flow Distro, a small zine and book distro currently operating out of Providence, RI. Its been on hiatus most of the year, but I'm in the process of restocking and getting my website up in running- hopefully in time for the Philly and Richmond zine fests, as well as The Fest in Gainesville. While on tour last summer, I picked up a copy of Love Letters to Monsters #2 in Boston and really loved it. I was wondering if you had 3 or 4 copies I'd be able to purchase to sell in the distro? I'm most easily reached at honeyflowdistro@gmail.com. Thanks and hope to hear from you!
hmmm... well i guess that is what it is.. it would be great if you had any paraphanelia from the '99 zine conference - so that we could establish a little more of the hystery. That would be pretty cool. I'm sure there were flyers made... what happened to them. But yeah - the following year, 2000... that's when it became the Underground Press Conference - okay.
Well from the looks of it, it seems that what is now AMC was called the MIDWEST ZINE CONFERNCE (MZC) in 1999. That must have been the event you helped to organize. It also seems that the following year - when the conference was renamed to Underground Press Conference (UPC) that whoever was part of the renaming might have had some connection or information about the conference in Chicago at DePaul. Further research reveals that Jen Angel (also a lead organizer of the UPC) was an attendee at the 1995 UPC in Chicago. So there is a direct connection. From your last message though, its seems, by then you had already left Ohio.

The Allied Media Conference is the central project of the Allied Media Projects (AMP) network, which emerges out of ten years of organic relationship-building. Since the first conference (then the Midwest Zine Conference) in 1999, people have been compelled by the concept of do-it-yourself media. Later, as the Underground Publishing Conference, the emphasis was on building a movement of alternative media makers. With the shift towards Allied Media, the AMC has attracted more and more people who are interested in using participatory media as a strategy for social justice organizing.

I dont see how its inconsistent with what you are saying. The original UPC happened in Chicago in 1994 - it then moved to Bowling Green Ohio... LATER it became known as the AMC. You also failed to mention what year you were organizing in BG... which would have been a key piece of information.
"The original Underground Press Conference happened on the DePaul campus in August of 1994. This conference eventually migrated to Ohio and later became the Allied Media Conference."
Hi Ciara, I just looked through all the settings and that seems to be on of the few they do not offer you to manage. What a shame. Sorry about that. I will investigate more.
I don't go on we make zines allllll that much, but whenever I do I seem to keep stumbling across your very long but absolutely incredibly advice and information!! Thank you so much for taking the time to pass on so much of your zine wisdom!
i'm really diggin' what you said about making your OWN zine scene...that's really cool. thanks for the kind words! :)
when did you make your first zine?
and by the way - i have to tell you, your buttons are the coolest thing on this green earth...who can resiste a button with a bag of sugar on it! :D love it.
Hi, Ciara, this is Thomas from Michigan. I love your subscription program --- there are few things more fun than coming home and finding a fat envelope of new goodies in the mailbox.
Folks, if you haven't checked this out, you really should.
I just wrote a blog post about the zines I got in the mail the other day. I really loved "Love Letters to Monsters." It was one of the kind of things I read, and then put down and think about, and then pick up to read again. Seriously, thank you for writing it. It's incredible.
