Hey, Dave! We did trade zines, like 100 years ago! I'm surprised you remember, and can tell you affirmatively my writing has gotten much better since I was a teenager. Would you be interested in trading again, in this decade?
Hi Dave! I 'friended you because I'm reading On Subbing, and I'm lovin' it. My Mom read it first, she works in special education, and she loved it too. I think she even sent you a fan email! :D Anyway, thanks, I'd love to trade zines. I still have copies left of Issue 1 of Minutes to Milleniums. It was the first I ever made, so it's not the best out there, but I do talk a little about my kidneys. I actually finished the zine literally minutes before I was diagnosed with PKD. But yes, I love reading about other illnesses, I can connect and sympathize in ways I really couldn't back when I was "normal". And that's both a humbling and up-lifting experience!
Hi David,
thanks for your interest in life here I am still trying to work out how best to describe Zambia it''s such a multi-faceted place full of ambiguities and I am actually working on a zine about my life here. But will definitely will get back to you soon!
Omaha's a pretty shitty town in the winter, to be quite honest. There's a collective house in Lincoln (www.lunkradio.org, if you want to check out their website and forums, etc.) that's currently trying to get a zine library started (it's mostly radical leftist literature, but from what I've seen it's getting along), and they have collective meetings every Wednesday night that are open to anyone to attend.
My favorite Vegan restaurant is McFoster's Natural Kind Cafe, which sits on the corner of 36th and Farnam, I believe. You have to try their celestial bananas, if nothing else. ;] Are you into punk music? The Hole on 16th and Leavenworth is an all-ages venue that hosts a lot of punk shows during the week. Dates/Line-ups/Other information can be found at myspace.com/theholeomaha.
Must-see sights are Gene Leahy Mall and the Old Market in downtown, and a walk through Memorial Park at 60th and Dodge Streets, and, if you're into water, checking out the pedestrian bridge across the Missouri. Not much else goes on down here. You kind of have to ask around when you get here to get the skinny on anything else. I'd be happy to show you around to a few places (if I can get the time, lol), or if you have any other questions please ask them.
Hope that helped, and I hope you have fun if you come here!
xx

Hi Dave! It's is Natalia, but not from Dublin no more. I'm out in the boonies now. I was just watching a home video of you a few weeks ago from when you read in the ole' Red Ink Bookshop! You gave out cookies to everyone! Legend!
Hey I know this is kinda late, but I just got internet. My zine bear pussy is fucked up. I didn't make enough copies and lost the orignal prints sorry :(. hahah my sad face looks like it has an awesome mole. anyways haha I'm making a new one about dreams, if you are intrested I can possibly send it to you.
I spent like 10 months in SE asia, so by the end of it I was kind of used to the heat. I didn't even have shorts by that point (they broke), I was wearing long (though very thing) pants/trousers!
The monkeys can be scary sometimes. I was cycling down a hill/mountain thing in Malaysia and stopped to take photoso of monkeys. They were totally chill until I started cycling off again, then they freaked out. I hadn't fed them like all the other tourists! They even chased me a bit.
I made a couple of zines about my trip if you want to trade. Though I can only trade the Thailand/Cambodia one as I can't photocopy the VIetnam one due to UK/North Amrican paper size differences.
Haha, I picked up on where this discussion was from, I probably should have just commented on your page in the first place.
Those names dont' sound familiar, but I am really bad at names. Some of my friends from KL on facebook are facebook friends with someone called Arwith Utarid?
I haven't been to KL in years, so I think it's probably changed a lot. I did go up the Petronas towers, but don't remember being that amazing? It looked cooler outside.
I didn't see any Rafflesia either, but I did so much cool stuff in Malaysia I didn't really care. Orangutans!
hi dave! how are you? i was thinking about you recently... anyways you should send me your address so i can send you my new zine. it's kind of like a zine that would be the child of an old zine of mine from 2003 and 'on subbing'. because it's about working with teenagers.
Hey, I got the package. So neat and such a treat to get your long letter. I heard you were in PDX. Hope you had a good time. Hope to see you next time.
Wow, no I did not. If you sent it to the PO box it may be there. I share it with some people and it hasn't been checked in a while. That is awesome that you found my zine there!
