just got off an exam for my anthropology of objects/goods, and the question was about the life of objects in parallel to the peoples' life. it was fun, I talked about second-hand, lost/found stuff, dumpster diving, freegans and the possible uses of trash. I based my introduction of the talk we had about your zine and I listed it along with Baudrillard earlier work on a bibliography !

they told us to give example, your writing was one of mine !

I think stories about lost things are less interesting because, if it's lost, you just don't know what stories happened... sometimes, I think it would be fun to read stories of the things I've lost from another person : the finder.

I'm considering writing you a letter about this, and italy but I'm way overbooked because of the school, and shows and I still have to type the new issue of cheaptoys, so :

I read your found/lost zine and I think it is really amazing, I was thinking about how I should write something like that after looking at a flyer you sent me, then I read the actual zine and loved it. to me the things I've lost are mostly money (I've lost something like 35€ over the last two years), and a sweatshirt (ok, for this one I don't know yet), but the things I've found tells better stories : a TV, a guitar case, a polaroid camera, a golf club and enought coins in the coffee machine of the university that sometimes it pays for my coffee. I totally spoiled the letter.

No didn't go home this time as I managed to get back for mum's birthday/ mothers day last month and they should be visiting out here in May. went to see the Lawrence Arms play at Belfast uni instead. Today has been drinking of beers and wondering around belfast taking pics in the sun:). Hope you have a good meal with your family.

Yeah I'm happier with snow and ice than blistering heat...luckily they have wet summers here so hopefully I won't need my fan on too much! The roads around here are fairly treacherous, tonnes of potholes and people driving too fast and not indicating! I've got used to it now though. Arms okay, just aches a bit. Long weekend now, we get tuesday off instead of today for some reason. Do you have anything planned for the easter weekend?

I'm not a fan of driving either...attempted to pass back when I was 18 and hated it then, still not keen on it now, but a bus to Belfast is so expensive and takes so long it seems worth trying to pass again. I much prefer cycling...got a new bike through bike to work scheme. I came off it on ice today though, sore arm :(

All settled in now, it snowed fairly heavily yesterday and i got soaked cycling home, not to mention knived by ice crystals, the little bastards! Am off out for a driving lesson now, wish me luck!

Im doing well. Im actually touring italia with my folk punk band but most of the gigs were cancelled so Im stuck in roma at my friend david place with a bunch of american students. we played at this squat lat night after all of these italian hardcore bands and I traded a bunch of copies of cheaptoys for italian hxcpunk zines. Im not really intoo that thing but trading zines is a good way to meet other zinesters, zhatever they are intoo.

Ive read your seventh issue of LALA lately and liked it. I have to answer to your letter when Ill go back to france.
