a place for zinesters - writers and readers
I have ALOT of creative projects that have been less and less successful because I spread myself so thin I can’t give each project it’s respected focused energy needed to have my envisioned outcome. As hard as this is for me I need to learn that letting go is okay.
It’s okay to put projects that mean a lot to me on hold if it means I am not able to make way for new & exciting creative opportunities. The past few weeks I have been thinking very intensely on the insanely long list of projects I am “attempting” to juggle – and not having much success due to sheer volume. It’s like if you have 80 zillion things going on it’s easier just to do nothing. The moment I start one thing i’m feeling guilty i’m not working on the other thing and it’s just this horrible ADD cycle. For the sake of sanity but mostly quality art I have made some really tough but (what I currently believe) to be necessary decisions.
It was so amazing to raise the $500 needed to keep a BlogTalkRadio account after running ZINECORE Radio since 2008 for free. Once this account expires, which will be the end of this year, I will be putting ZINECORE RADIO on hold indefinitely.
Ax Wound Radio will also be on hold until the production of the SEX/HORROR print issue has been completed and published. AW Radio will then return with a completely different sound/type of show.
So in the meantime my radio shows aren’t going anywhere until the end of December 2011.
I will be announcing my plans to preserve the hours and hours of amazing artist interviews (Lydia Lunch, Kathleen Hanna, Richard Kern, etc etc etc etc) as a physical item available in zine libraries and for sale as a collectors package. It will come with extra features, a full ZINECORE Radio zine, and original art for each episode. This will allow me to move on with “closure.” Even though I don’t fully believe we ever have this thing called ‘closure’ it will feel better to have this as a way to preserve all the amazing artist and activists who shared there creative life with me and the listeners since 2008 on my radio shows. Not to mention my co-hosts and friends who helped via word of mouth<3
Please stay tuned for the going-on-in-style radio shows! I will be trying to host as many as possible in these last few months <3
As you may have noticed this is titled “Part One.” More posts are coming about the very big changes I am making to carve out the artistic life I want to have. Lot’s of new and incredibly exciting projects will be announced. These projects are so important to me that ‘letting go’ is something I have to do in order to grow.
Please stay tuned for updates and announcements.
Thank you everyone for the incredible support! More info very soon.
