Thanks to everyone who contributed to my zine documentary so far! The responses have been fabulous, and I can't wait to put together the first issue to send out to everyone. Here's the deal. I have some funding to put a zine together about why zines are important to folks, about our creative process making them, and the connections we make through making and sharing them. My plan is to do a series of issues over the next year and once I have a good number of issues, to bind them somehow as a larger project. I hope to use this project as a springboard to get more funding to do a film or something within the next year or so. It's a collaborative project, so the content of what folks send to me dictates the direction of the project. This is a not-for-profit project and my goal is merely to facilitate a larger creative conversation about why we do what we do.
I have made a zine with questions and space to respond to those questions, though it's not imperative that folks answer the questions directly, or at all, actually. People who have contributed so far have used the questions as prompts to write/draw whatever they want. Like I said, the content of the final product is dictated by what folks contribute. So, there's a lot of freedom in it. This isn't a "survey" or "academic" project. It's a creative one. So, if you're intrigued or want to contribute, email me your mailing address and I'll send one out to you. It comes with a consent form because that's what I have to do for the grant. But, I'll send you the finished zine and some other fun stuff once I get a critical mass of responses for the first issue (should be early January).
My email is firstname.lastname@example.org, so feel free to shout at me with any questions or if you want me to send you stuff.
