I'm way new at this, I just have always loved music, writing and drawing so this past summer I thought, "Why not combine all those things?"
So I did, came up with Squid Pro Quo and finally printed it out. It's basically a punk rock zine with interviews, album reviews, cartoons and musicians' columns. At least that's what I've got thus far.
In issue #1, you'll find:
-Interview with Joe Queer and John P. Hayes (aka Wimpy Rutherford) of THE QUEERS!
-Interview with Tony Kovacs and Chris Gach of SHOT BAKER!
-Interview with Mike Byrne of THE METHADONES!
-OFF WITH THEIR HEADS - "From the Bottom" album review
-The STEINWAYS - "Unoriginal Recipe" 7'' review
-SMOKING POPES - "Stay Down" CD review
-All new cartoons!
-METHADONES story on releasing their own split without a label
-QUEERS story on Joe's old restaurant, his new studio and everything in between!
-SHOT BAKER story on their new album, "Take Control," touring and how they got together as a band.
-Last but not least is my favorite; a column by Mike Byrne of THE METHADONES about Meatheads. It's quite the funny piece. Unless you're a meathead, that is.
Issue #1 is $2.50 ppd, and I'll throw in some buttons and comics for free probably. Also, February 7, I will be sharing a merch table with The Methadones at the Empty Bottle in Chicago. Can't wait! I will be happy if at least one person buys a copy. So far, people online don't seem to be too into it, since all the stories are online as well. For the first couple issues, I'll probably have everything in print on the Internet as well. Then if there's somewhat of a following, I'll have print exclusive stuff and Web exclusive stuff. I'm very excited to see if people buy it!
