Van Gogh art question for this week's quiz

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:
History question this week. Where was the Battle of Hastings fought? Clue "I gave you two clues"
Battle. Yes the battle was fought near the town of Battle. But instead of calling it the Battle of Battle, they called it the Battle of Hastings a town a little further down the road. Now look at the clue, "I gave you two clues" 1. Hastings, and 2. Battle. This was one of my favorite questions. But....

I had no correct eligible answers - seemed this question was not your 'field" of expertise!
I don't dumb down/so please wise up.

FINE PRINT: The CD prize is only available to those with mailing addresses in the US. Foreign winners will have to settle for the miniscule fame alone, and the satisfaction of a job well done. But don’t forget you can listen to all the music on the website, whether you won or lost – and I’d be glad if you did!

Look up starving artist in a dictionary, and you'll likely see a picture of Vincent Van Gogh. During his painting decade - he only painted for about 10 years tops (1880's) - he had little money, and all that came from his brother Theo (though for the life of me, I don't get it - Theo worked in a GALLERY and never got his Brother's work SHOWN IN THE GALLERY!) Well I divulge. Let's continue. There was one thing that Vincent splurged on, with the help of Theo. He bought 500 of these at 2-4 francs each. What did he buy so much of? Clue: It wasn't any painting supplies, but it was connected to art. Good luck.
