Utne Awards?!

We at the Ms Valerie Park Distro are headed to Boulder, Co in the morning to attend this weekend's Utne Reader awards ceremony because our very own Ariel Birks got nominated for Zine of the Year for Jesus Christ Superzine! Kinda weird, we're totally going to be the only zinesters at the thing, but how often do you get invited such a thing? For us, not very often. We'll keep y'all posted on the weirdness of such an event and the possibility of JCSZ actually winning (who knows? maybe). See what happens!

So, didn't win, but it was a ridculously amazing trip and a totally funny event. Rad Dad won! A totally deserving zine, so no hard feelings there. The editor of Utne, David Schimke, was all about giving props to zines and talked to us about doing a zine issue of Utne (?!), which probably won't happen, but he was really sweet and genuine, told us we were the first zinesters to come to the awards ceremony in all the years they've been doing it.
