We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

I just finished #3 in my mini-twenty-four-hour-zine series. I love this little series because it takes only a short time to finish a whole zine. I also love the challenge of drawing in small scale and trying to convey a message.

The zine's theme is Problems and Solutions. It is all about the problems we have as artists that keep us from moving forward in our dreams and goals. The specific problems in this zine are one's that I am challenged with on a regular basis. I have found some solutions that have worked for me.

Making one these little zines is a great way to remedy feelings of failure. It only takes a day to complete. Talk about instant gratification and you have something to give out to friends, too.

Road trips to see my best friend in San Francisco are regular excursions for me. When I'm feeling really tired of my work I head up to the big city to get a little inspiration and spend time with someone I love.

Museums are great places to hide away for a day. The Legion of Honor in SF is one of the best museums for that, but if I lived in London I'd be at the Courtauld Gallery.

#4 is on it's way. I've already started planning it out. It's theme is going to be about favorite things. I hope to have it completed by next month. I do all the drawing, cutting, pasting, copying and stapling in 24 hours.
