We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

This month, people gave me a lot of great things to give away with orders (bunches of cd's, zines, buttons, stickers...even shirts and posters), so if you've been thinking of placing an order, just know that'll I can promise to send along a few extra things. Also, on the website, we have a new music player! Which means, you don't have to download 50 some songs individually to check out all the music we have to offer, you can just play it right off the site, super easy. This is what's been going on here:
New
Christina Antipa- The Royal We (CD)- This is the kind of album that makes me want to make people buy it for their own good, but then I realize that that's wrong and people have the right to make their own decisions... but really, it's so good. ($10)
Eaves of Ass #6 (Zine)- It took a year of prodding, but finally we got one of the best zines around. This is the issue that had some of its essays in 2008's Best American Music Writing. ($3)
Eaves of Ass #7 (Zine)- While this zine is in some ways about everything falling apart, it also has a ton of heart and is about when it all comes together (like free beer in a hurricane-caused power outage and dumpstered night picnics when the grocery stores throw it all away). ($3)
Firs of Prey- Keep the Lions Asleep (12")- I got the pleasure of seeing Firs of Prey live this month and it was so good. Totally on the way up. ($10)
Jordan O' Jordan- Carbon Cycles (LP)- Hearing this album on vinyl makes so much more sense to me. It just sounds like it's supposed to (in the way that it's old but brand new, like john fahey making 78's and scratching them to blur the lines of time). And it's beautiful frosted blue, too. ($15)
Magick Orchids- The East Shall Shake the West Awake (CD)- maybe kind of to me bizarre how good this is. Live electronic improvised hynoptism. ($5)
Magick Orchids- Live Transmissions (CD)- more jams, this time in live album form. Taken from a show at the legendary LA club, The Smell. ($5)
Night Terror (Zine)- a personal and historical look into the phenomenon of night terrors. ($3)
Resume of Charm #10 (Zine)- a sparkly new shiny treaure from our dear Danielle Rodeo Warhola. ($2)

Restocks

Jesus Christ Superzine Vol 1 (Zine) ($3)
Jordan O Jordan- Carbon Cycles (CD) ($10)
The Baron- Summer Soul Vol. 2 (Tape) ($2)

There was some news and mp3's I had attached to the one that went out in the mail, but I have to re-link everything to put it on here and kinda got tired, I'd certainly send that yr way if you want, just let me know what email address to send it to.
And, also, so you know, we welcome and encourage you to send this newsletter along to friends, post elsewhere, etc. Until next month, JJ/MVPD
