Current Issue #1
I am including an article about the band Nickelback. Entitled "Nickelback Responds To Insults On Twitter," hosted on Billboard.com, written January 24th by Sarah Maloy, the article details the bands new tactic of responding to all the bashing they get on the website Twitter. "Apparently tired of being the butt of many a music joke, the band members of Nickelback (or the reps controlling the group's Twitter account) have gone online to sarcastically respond to every joke and insult being hurled their way." In response to one person who after hearing Nickelback tweeted "Was driving down the street, and a Nickelback song came on. I had an aneurism and violently shit myself at the same time. And my dog died," the band's Twitter responded (hold on to your hats, as this might be the best comeback ever) "I bet it was the best day you've had in awhile." Boom! Take that, some guy on the internet!
Nickelback is a good example of the terrible, derivative, and lazy popular music of today. The music industry is forcing objectively awful music down our throats and no one seems to care except me. Someday, when the members of the band Nickelback are all finally dead, I hope to be able to look at this article and laugh.
