[poem notes in brackets like this]

1 [Poem for WIS, Writings In Science, a sci-fi novel in progress]

The rocket looked
like an ocean liner
under the higher
full lit Moon.

"Ahoy! Ahoy!
all you travelers,
lost in space
and long from home."

2 [a personal favorite]

like a moth
toward the flame.

3 [Poem for WIS]

I hate it when I
turn into
a science diorama.

Behind me an hominid
is breathing down my neck,
ahead of me hovering,
a big-brained grey ...

4 [The Unofficial Symbol for Dallas is Pegasus]

Pegasus touched Earth
with the tip of one hoof
a fountain came forth
broke out, raised up

it's sacred waters
refreshed the Muses
who in turn
inspired the artists
