News!
*March 12th will be Prince Zine release events galore. First a reading at Orca Books with readings from The Prince Zine and Alexis Wolf reading from Hyena in Petticoats: A Mary Wollstonecraft Zine. Then The Party Formerly Known as Prince, an all Prince-related dance party with games and costumes. Much fun to be had.
*With Well, I Don't See Why Not Vol 1 almost out of print and Well, I Don't See Why Not Vol 3 on the horizon, we made a Bandcamp page for these compilations, so as to facilitate the digital buying thereof.
*Foxdye's new Monsters of Meme was reviewed on KnowYourMeme.com, which led to over a thousand Foxdye-related hits in less than two days(!?).
*Olympia's own Nikki Sabalu (DIY or Don't We) made an awesome little video about how to make a zine. She's the coolest.
*The Radical Mycology folks are planning a Radical Mycology Convergence this summer, which you should check out if you are interested in mushrooms making you healthier, mushrooms saving the world through mycorestoration, and the like.
*Check out our own DJ Frederick (Signals)'s new One Minute Zine Reviews blog. He's tops.
*Radical Mycology and Awkward Sex were both featured on the website Jemibook.
*Basic Paper Airplane #3 was reviewed on My Girl Thursday.
*Our friend Billy did a video on the Chicago graffiti scene that's definitely worth checking out.
*Two of our dear (and very different, musically speaking) friends are touring in Europe right now. If you happen to be there, check out the breakcore rave party of Foxdye (touring with Th' Mole!) and bluegrass old-time footstompin' of The Blackberry Bushes. Those links go to tour dates, so if you're anywhere near, or are passing through their destinations, we'd highly recommend checking it out. There's also rumor of a Poppet and Kendl Winter one-off show in Berlin...which would be pretty amazing.
*March also brings Hollow Earth Radio's ever-fabulous Magma Fest. There's none better. Near Seattle? You must attend. A rare Polka Dot Dot Dot show will ensue, among much else (a traveling light rail show? yes).
Until next month, JJ/MVPD
