a place for zinesters - writers and readers
No.
Because there were a few people and/or groups I could only access by joining, I decided I'd do that. I think there were a few people that invited me there too, which influenced my decision, but all the messages and where they came from on the Net is often a vague jumble in my memory, so I'm never sure.
I occasionally get a message in my Yahoo Mail Inbox that I've got so many friend suggestions, friend requests, group invitations, messages or "whatever", as I did this morning. As usual, there's this tight little sequence of regulations you have to follow to say anything to anybody, so I usually don't even try.
I have pages and pages of friend suggestions or requests that I'd like to get rid of, but even with HughsNet "high speed" that's a time-consuming and tedious drag, so I always decide, after some prevarication, I don't even want to attempt it. (I tried before, and it seemed never-ending.)
I just don't understand the popularity of FaceBook. Yes, with some effort you can extract some marginally useful information, but for the most part, I find it to be the most cluttered, disorienting, alienating mass of text and image I've encountered on the Great Internet to date. (The photos, by the way, are so small they border on invisible). It's a confusion machine, a hall of mirrors, a cacaphony of pseudo-information.
Yeah, yeah. I know. Everybody else finds it fun and convenient. It's just YOU and a few other mentally-challenged, disgruntled old cavemen who don't get it. You know something. You may be right.
But then....maybe the emperor has no clothes.
