a place for zinesters - writers and readers
Our dear long-time collaborator, Alexis Wolf, moved to France in September and her amazing zine, Ilse Content, has been going out of print like crazy ever since! Luckily, she left us with the originals, should this situation come to pass, and we finally got around to reprinting a couple today. If you have yet to get hooked, these are two of the best issues to get started with.
Ilse Content, Vol 8 ($3)- Six years running, Ilse Content is an institution. All the charm of Doris, style for miles, prose that has a child-like wonder of the world that is always profound and reminds us how much amazing stuff we look past everyday. This issue is largely about keeping yourself well emotionally; poetic recipes for staying happy, reasons to feel good, an overwhelmingly good attitude you can’t deny. 32 Pages, Half letter size.
Ilse Content, Vol 9 ($3)- Ilse Content is like a motivational speech to start a revolution. Personal or political, you choose. She doesn’t ask that it be anything like any revolution that came before or that it be grand in scale, she just asks that you really feel life, even when it hurts. The themes remain strong: a reverence for nature, for people, finding ways to love yourself, acknowledging how awful the world can be, but building around it (over it), creating your own existence. There’s also sex and love, heartbreak and the end of the world thrown in, if it wasn’t already tempting. 28 pages, half-legal size.
