After an inspiring weekend at Ladyfest Manchester and a very seriously dented distro stock I have decided it is time for new zines, lots of them.
marching stars distro (www.marchingstars.co.uk) is a 16 month old UK based distro which has hopefully now proved it has staying power in these unstable distro times.
Zines that I choose to stock I am 110% behind and I so take seriously my role of helping to get zines out there in the world to the right people. Oh, and I freaking love tabling at events and in the last year I have been to zine festivals in 4 countries!
Right, so what exactly am I looking for? Ultimately I think of my distro as a ”perzine distro” but I use that term quite broadly. I want to read about people talking about their lives and their experiences. The sub genres I have a lot of interesting in are sort of feminist, queer, body image, alternative health, travel, riot grrrl, mental health, craft, some fiction, veggie/vegan cooking, etc. I’m mostly interested in new zines “fitting” with the rest of the distro, so you might want to check out the siteto see if there are other zines that I already stock that you know/like.
Zine types I definitely don’t go for (unless they are clearly very heavily linked to the things above) are: music zines, poetry, comics and art zines.
Still reading? Wow, I’d be probably be pretty interested in seeing a copy of your zine now!
Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org telling me your name, title and issue of zine, short description, wholesale price and retail price. I will reply letting you know if I agree that it sounds like it would fit in my distro and if I would like to see a hard copy, and if so, the address to send to.
Payment for zines I stock: wholesale prices upfront or distro trade or distro credit. I’m pretty flexible.
Feel free to ask any questions!
Oh, and I’d also take recommendations of zines to look into that you think maybe I should be stocking!
