Gotta start somewhere

So here I am, starting. And you know what? I have no idea where or how to start Lol :) but that's ok - I'll get it sorted out.

I'm just going to throw this blog post out there and see if anybody responds in any way. I need help and I'm tired of being too afraid to ask or asking and getting no response.

 

I was looking at self publishing - e-publishing my book and selling through a big online retailer but the closer I got to that the more I realized I'm just not that kind of person - meaning I wasn't looking for money or massive exsposure I was more looking to connect with readers and other writers and get involved.

 

Then I stumbled on Shya Scanlon and his serialized novel - he let various web sites host it for him, it got them both of them exposure and eventually got him a book deal - I liked the idea but still too impersonal feeling for me. But the serialized idea really struck a chord with me and got me wondering and wandering.

 

I began considering other alternative methods of publishing, methods that would make me feel like I had a total hand in my project rather than just a correspondence with an editor and an agent about my 'product'.

 

Now I'm here and I'm liking what I see :) this may be it - my book may have found a format and I may have found a really cool home.

 

I'm reading the forums, I'm looking at the Zines.....this might just be it :)

Welcome! I am in now way the most knowledgeable person. I am still a newbie. But I can tell you that what really got me in the right direction making zines was Stolen Sharpie Revolution. Without that little red book I would have given up and walked away. I would definitely suggest getting a copy.
