a place for zinesters - writers and readers
I can't believe how long it's been since I updated things here. Since I last added photos or wrote, I've provided illustrations for a reading of "Herbert West, Re-Animator" at Monster Island Resort Podcast. (You can look and listen here: http://0316bfc.netsolhost.com/blog/?p=923). I had some of them made into postcards, which I'm selling at my Etsy shop.
I'm hoping to be able to start making more Monstress again, now that The Cultural Gutter's website has been upgraded and redesigned. I have started scanning all my flats in so I can make pdf's of them. So far I've scanned issue 9: "The Thing From Another World I" and issue 3, aka, the Werewolf Issue. I'm experimenting with new tape for the decorative staple covers, for lack of a better description.
And I think I've finally got a seed of an idea for the fiction in a new issue of Monstress. Somehow my momentum for each issue depends on my ability to think of a cover and the fiction.
All the collaboration I've been doing lately is great--with my colleagues at The Cultural Gutter, Monster Island Resort, as this year's editor for the Toronto International Film Festival Midnight Madness blog, as an agent of the Mysterious Order of the Skeleton Suit and helping host the Drive-In Mob on twitter--but it also has made it difficult for me to settle down and work on Monstress. At least it's a good problem to have.
