We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

Well,Real Madness Comic's #5 is out,and the review's AREN'T rolling in...I don't give a fuck though.Shit happen's slow in the zine world. It's 4 a.m. here in Portland Oregon.I just woke up,and I'm going to finish up a 3 pager for FLUKE fanzine, and mail that shit off.He sent me a copy to read (I usually go to Powell's to read it),and I'm not kidding when I say it was probably the best zine I've read in awhile.Fluke #11 has alot of killer art and articles in it,a Negative Approach interview, train art,etc..It's refreshing to see a great zine that doesn't look like shit-my theory is that scum rises, and with each year, the more zines come out,the more great ones will float to the top of the ocean's of horrible zines out there that suck.I hope my comic makes the cut for the next issue.I penciled it in 3 times before I could come up with one good enough. It's harder for me to come up with certain charachter's or certain situation's these day's than it used to be.Fitting shit into certain format's,sizes, etc.,it's hard sometimes.I have to do it,though-I have to rise to the challenge, and be a famous punk rock zine cartoonist. That's why I'm up at 4 a.m..That'll give me 3 hour's to draw before my 2 year old daughter wakes up.She's home all month, because her Mother Mara,my Russian girlfriend, switched her into a better day care, since she thought the old was wasn't Art's orientated enough.I'm trying to be ambitious, working watching my kid and getting yard work job's on the side, plus I cook 40 hour's a week in a bar my friend opened that has band's and shit. Why?Because I'm trying to come through for people,be a stand up guy,and become a famous artist.I draw poster's for the band's and also do sign's and chalkboard art for the joint.I wish I was some ex-nike graphic designer guy with a bunch of connection's,but I'm not-I'm a working class shmoe. But that will just make my art that much better-I've never had money to go to art school or anything. But I still get shit published all the time-that just show's to go you how little an edumacation mean's these day's.I even cranked out a zine when they had me locked up last year for 4 month's.I'm going to keep doing zines, even after I'm dead-zombie zines, zine's for ghost's,shit like that.I'm working on a new zine/comic right now,and it's going to be a doozy. In the meantime though, check out some of my shit alongside the cool art in PORK,hopefully in FLUKE,and for sale at Floating World Comic's or mail order some from me if you can't find it at your local methlab. And keep doing whatever your doing that keep's you going, because I am.
