We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

i've found a few sites that sell zines from the 60's all the way to the mid 90's. some are quite expensive (up to $150) while others are rather reasonably priced ($15-25).

does anyone here collect/buy vintage zines?

where do you get them?

To be honest, I don't really know, as I've never tried.  But I would definitely talk to zinester friends that have been in the scene for a while, you never know what someone might have that they'd be willing to part with... I agree with Amber, not only is it ridiculous, but I do think it's a little bit cheeky and offensive as well to make money off zines like that.

while i agree that the prices of old copies of zine world and broken pencil is a little high, i think that their collection of "girlfrenzy" (issues#1,2,3) is reasonably priced for how much time has passed and its contribution to the 90's grrl zine movement.

"answer me" #4 (priced at an incredible $125 for 132pgs) has artwork by trevor brown, making is a pricey collectores item, and "green egg" vol vii #63 is steep but not unexpected at $75 for 65pgs simply based on what it is and how it relates to its scene.

dont get me wrong.... i dont have $75 to blow on a few measly pages, but if theres "better ways to get your hands on older zines", what are they?

Yeah, seems pretty silly to me... Broken Pencil is still in print, and they're trying to sell one issue for what I'm pretty sure is close to/the same as the cost of a year subscription... I would never pay $150 for a zine, vintage or not.  I'm sure there have to be better ways to get your hands on older zines.

This is absolutely ridiculous.  Someone is trying to sell an old issue of Zine World for $25???
