CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:

MAKING NEW MAPS is a compilation zine about reconsidering, making changes to, or stopping their current or future socially and/or medically transitioning as transgender, transsexual, intersex, genderqueer or otherwise non-binary, gender variant, questioning, and other people.

Here are some ideas to get your thoughts flowing:

~ moving beyond the dominant narratives & images of trans* and genderqueer identities and experiences and transition paths

~ gender & body autonomy (or lackthereof) and intersex, trans*, and genderqueer people; gender policing, stereotyping

~ the pathologization of trans*, intersex, non-binary, etc. people

~ transitioning medically underground

~ herbal / holistic / alternative transition methods

~ non-binary folks and transitioning (socially and/or medically)

~ misogyny, transmisogyny, and anti-femininity in trans* (and queer) spaces & communities

~ shifting gender identity, expression, experiences before, during or after social and/or medical transition

~ stopping transitioning (voluntarily or involuntarily) socially and/or medically

~ navigating gendered spaces (bathrooms, etc.)

~ language, pronouns

Please feel free to submit anonymously, or using a pseudonym or a nickname if you like. Essays, poems, rants, journal entries, short stories, etc. appreciated! Maximum of 3 pages single-spaced per submission, please!

Artwork (drawings, photos, collages, etc.) totally welcome & appreciated! 1-2 pieces per submission!
