When a Stranger Calls a Friend of a Friend

International illustrators and drawing artists are encouraged to apply to When a Stranger Calls a Friend of a Friend: a visual survey of cross-cultural parallels in contemporary legend and the performance, transmission, form and function of modern urban folklore around the world. Selected artists will (literally and figuratively) draw from their personal histories to create drawing and illustration work on paper depicting narratives, rumors, jokes, myths and popular beliefs of contemporary legendry.

Curated by Ryan Ringer and produced by Methinks, When a Stranger Calls a Friend of a Friend will be exhibited for two weeks at Project 165’s gallery in Toronto, Canada. The exhibition will also be open to thousands of visitors during the August edition of Pedestrian Sunday, a popular monthly festival in Toronto’s historic Kensington Market district; and complimented by a lively story-telling event and a cute little exhibition catalogue.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE (for selected artists): July 18, 2010
EXHIBITION DATES: August 17 – 31, 2010

To apply, email up to 5 images of the kind of work you want to submit, or a link to your website, to methinkspresents@gmail.com.

Free to apply. Exhibition fee for selected applicants is $35. All works priced at $100. Artists receive 100% of sales.
