We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

Black Light Diner distro, July 2010 update!

Hey everyone! After my recent move, Black Light Diner Comics and Zines is back in business, with new zines in stock! Check them out:

SHOW AND TELL #5 (Bend, OR)

The fifth issue of Rachel Lee-Carman's personal/comics zine includes even more funny, short pieces, on such diverse topics as the insanity of Costco, serving Stephen Baldwin (and saving his receipt!), and the death of a childhood cat. There are also how-to articles on how to make a one-page mini-zine using both sides of the paper, and how to make prints using modge podge, magazines, and tape! This is such a fun, spontaneous zine, which can make you laugh one minute and cry the next. Half-size, 36 pages.

SHOW AND TELL #6 (Bend, OR)
As the introduction says, Show and Tell #6 is set in winter, and is a bittersweet issue. A Patti Smith show/reading inspires self-reflection. Rachel's story on depression and self-healing inspired by Doris really spoke to me. And of course there is a how-to article, on screenprinting this time! The illustrations are a little more detailed this time, as Rachel gives us a peek into her favorite coffee shop and a "blanket fort pizza party" (yep, exactly what it sounds like). Half-size, 32 pages.

YOU DON'T GET THERE FROM HERE #14 (Los Angeles, CA)
YDGTFH #14 starts where the last issue ended, the death of Carrie's cat Jesse. This loss is echoed throughout, but there are positive moments too: a short trip to Oaxaca for Dia de los Muertos, plenty of running, dental work (okay, maybe that's not a positive moment!). Highly recommended for all fans of journal comics! Quarter-sized, 36 pages.

Also, in honor of International Zine Month all orders $20 or over in the month of July and August will receive a free zine! Just write your preferred free zine in the comments section on Paypal, or on paper, if postal mail is the way you roll.

Thanks for reading!
