We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

After 16 months, I have a new zine

My new zine, Eat My Burnt Hair, is an "et cetera"-ish fan/politics/personal zine covering many subjects from punk music and underground film to disability rights and anti-capitalism.

It's more or less DIY culture + opinion.

In issue #1 (20pp/b&w/half-size/stapled), you'll find:

  • G. B. Jones' The Yo-Yo Gang (film review)
  • Social Model of Disability 101
  • I’m not a "radical queer" (the subculture, not radicalism as a whole)
  • Contrary to stereotypes, I like people ("Social Skills Don't Exist" redux)
  • Music I've been listening to
  • A few small collages and assorted odds and ends

To get it:

  • US$2 cash by mail (email me at candidshits [at] gmail [dot] com for my address, USA only)
  • US$2.23 through my website (PayPal, USA only)
  • US$1 in person if you live in or visit the Washington D.C. area
  • I accept trades from worldwide
  • If you’re from outside the USA, we should be able to work something out

(don’t send PayPal to the candidshits email, I have it set up with a different address)

I should note, for those who are unfamiliar, "radical queer" =/= "queer people who are radical" or "radical ideas about sexuality and gender." It's referencing a particular 2000s-present subculture with an unfortunate penchant for fucked politics and aesthetics.

(I would post this to places like We Love Zines and Fuck Yeah Zines, like I did for my previous zines, but fear being ripped apart because of how popular "radical queer" zine culture is.)
