odd like a 2 dollar bill

I get such a kick out of it when people send me $2 bills for ordering Zine World. I just can't bring myself to spend them on banalities like postage. I've traded out a couple for $1 bills (from my non-zine funds). I usually keep one in my wallet, just for emergency cash. (And it has to be a really tight emergency before I will spend it.) I've put one or two into my son's 'special money' piggy bank. Occasionally I'll use one for ordering another zine. Feels right to spend it that way.

I love it when a plan comes together

So earlier this year, the gals who started the Rock N Roll Camp in Portland put out a book called Rock N Roll Camp For Girls: How to Start a Band, Write Songs, Record an Album, and Rock Out!! They're doing a book tour, and today we finalized my library as being a stop on the tour! My town hosts the Southern Girls Rock N Roll Camp; the organization who runs SGRRC has helped with some of the zine workshops I've done at my library (where I… Continue

Worry Stone #1: a zine about diabetes

Excerpt (from intro):

As I've gotten older, I have developed an increasing number of anxieties. Life isn't simple anymore. I have marriage-like relationship with a diabetic man. We have a young child. I am a homeowner. I have a career. I have debt.

I have plenty of things to worry about.

So I started a new zine to help me explore some of my sources of worry. Worry Stone #1 focuses on my partner's diabetes. I talk about what diabetes does to the body, the… Continue
