Bobby madness's Blog (91)

man,i hate to say it,but i'm glad i got a distributor.i mean, shit,i wish i was all grass roots and dirty socks, pushin' my shit on tour, but, you know,i've like opted out for someone(i dont know exactly who,i assume he/she is cool)to,like, sell my shit here and abroad,so they can help  get the message out, that, like, madness is a cool artist, and,he should do your album cover, because he's cool.i mean,i feel like a sellout and shit, for real, coz i'm not out there kicking ass like joey ramone,on the… Continue

why oni press should be firebombed

pounded,by brian wood and steve rolston,is possibly the shittiest comic book ever,in the history of comics.it's an affront to everything.those responsible for this crime must pay.the second you open it,you instantly puke.rapist kieren dwyer assaults us with a fucking rotten "intro",hoping for "i'm hoping to see alot of young girls getting thier asses...well,uh,pounded".the rotten fucked up shitty sexist plot is about a rich trust fund fake horrible unrealistic 1 dimensional axe spray ad type… Continue

why you bringin up old shit?

freedom of speech is more than just a tune by ice t.its what makes our shitty country slightly cool, and it is constantly under attack.thats why it constantly needs to be tested,by me.it doesnt get as much attention as other laws, and thats some fucked up shit.zines were a product of free speech laws that were established by hippies in the sixties.also, dollar bill picture motherfuckers wrote that shit into the constitution.plus, its the reason wymyn fought hard in the 70's for the right to not… Continue

a man without a woman is like a junky without a stolen bicycle

my commitment to environmentalism has always been, well, great,to put it mildly.ive done salvage and recycling and metal theft since 1980.my hippy mom made me pick up litter on the first earth day in 73 or 4.i was a hot rodder who wrecked beater cars drunk in the stray cat days, and quit driving for 12 years and worked on bikes instead.in short, even though i may kill people, environmentally,im a saint.so,of course,i know everything about bike culture too.i was a messenger for 4 years, and its my… Continue

why i make zines

when i first punked out,i had a hard time fitting in at shows.i didnt have any money for cool threads,or dope or import records or anything.i couldnt get in unless i crashed the door.it seemed like punks were all a bunch of rock stars or something.the first time i saw sniffin glue,i thought it was cool, especially because it was so crappy and funny.i always thought art and punk had a strong connection, and that sniffin glue really brought it together.stop! was a local free paper that was… Continue

pornlands shanghai tunnels

living in a teeny tiny village like p-town is weak, but one thing thats cool about it(besides we make zines, which is the only reason i live here)is the tunnels.they were built by chinese laborers a really long time ago.they are under most of the buildings downtown, even though a lot of them are walled off.they used to use them to mug drunks and surrepticiously haul them out to sea to work as slave labor in the ships.when i worked in the cobalt lounge in 96 you could get in them.theyre really… Continue

cats in zines

there are alot of zines out there with cats in them.violent fez,for instance.cats constantly appear in all kinds of zines.as cat stories and odes to cats,or props,or whatnot, appear again and again,it makes me wonder-are the cats in on it?are they doing it on purpose?is it an organized movement by the cats to let thier prescence be known to zine makers?coincidence may explain a few odd appearances in a few counter culture quarterly's (that means they come out three times a year in zine… Continue

robot zines from the future-and the impact of sociopolitical transformatory analysis

as a member of we make zines,i feel a certain responsibility to the zine community at large.i considered joining other zine social networking sites, such as "we make zines that sell",or"we make zines people read",but i figured this site fit me alot better, even though im 97 years old.but the point is not just to talk about me,or how great i am,or how i have a huge penis or how i can get coke tommorow.no,this is way more important.everybody needs to hear this-ive only told my… Continue

traditional letterpress-your nuts

alot of zinesters lately have been touting the awesomeness of the old fashioned letterpress lately.they have a few around people print handbills on for shows.ive seen them, and it really took me back.probably people seeking authentic type quality prints are drawn to these cheap, affordable machines.thats all well and good, but i think its essential that everybody knows to be really careful on those things.of course everyone is,so just disregard the rest of this page and have fun making… Continue

self censorship:a gosh darn son of a gun problem

one thing plagueing the zines you see these days is self censorship.censorship in general is really boring, and it makes life alot boring-er.but when it comes to something like zines, which,in all honesty, were not too incredibly exciting to begin with,it's pretty self defeating.zine expansion and production has expanded during the years, with some amazing writing and art spreading across the world, but its come at a price.nowadays you see alot of people just basically puffing up thier resume with a… Continue
