Punker Than Thou

Look,I know wemakezines is probably the most popular social networking sight right now-everybody knows that. But lately, some fans have been asking really stupid questions-shit like,"Who are you?",or "Whats your problem?",or my personal favorite,"Wheres the money I loaned you?".Well, since a lot of younger, stupider people have never seen my art (As unbelievable as that sounds),its time to introduce them to one of my favorite people-Me.Although I'm usually refered to as The King of Punk, lately…

Stop Raping The Land,Evil Corporations-And A Shout Out to JDogg!

Fucking hillside in Washington state collapsed and killed like 13 rednecks.Did you see that shit? That was some fucked up shit. And now,the gummint came out with a report that they had a report in 1997 from two smart geologists that said not to clear cut there, but went by the old 1988 guidelines instead.Clear cutting ruins both of the already crappy states of Washington and Oregon. Why the shit cocksucking hell piss whore doesnt anybody do something about it?Well, you can't.The Family, the…

UP THE PUNX

When I read about people critisizing punk rock, I think it sounds pretty unfair. I'm too old to be a punk rocker now, but I still do comics for punks, and know a few punks. A lot of the people you read talking shit about how stupid punk rockers are, they have college degrees and shit. That's not really fair for somebody that's all edumuhcated to pick on people that are stupid like me. I just got my G.E.D, and it was really hard! I've only been using a computer for like 5 years. I don't want…

Wake Up,Zine Fucks

I would think that there are some huge problems in the world today.Income inequality, for starters.Treating people like shit, is another one. Huge corporations destroying the environment is a major problem. Theres limited means at our disposal to stop these things, but we can slow them down. Getting involved, and even voting, as lame as that sounds, is a good start. Personally slowing down our own rate of blind consumerism helps. Reducing contributions to capitalist bullshit companies, and…

Zines-The 90's Zines Were So Much Better

Zine this, zine that. There's no real content to just being a fucking cheerleader.Zine community, blah blah blah.Theres more to good writing and art than just being positive. You should probably have something to say before you open your mouth and start espousing opinions on what people should buy, or who they can like.It sounds like most zines exist in a vacuum-no fresh air comes in,and everything is sucked out.Whats left is pure hobby-its there for the enjoyment of the producer. This is…

Real Madness #5,Tim,and Dope

My new Real Madness Comics #5, Last Issue hasn't been selling that much. I still have 2 copies left. Its got 2 stories in it, tying up the loose ends from previous Real Madness Comics. The first is the conclusion of Fuck That Shit, from RM#1. The whole 5 issue series was printed up by Tim @ Teenage Dinosaur. When we first started, it was back in 2002 or so. I was working as a bouncer/doorguy, and Tim came and tracked me down. This led to the best comic I'd done in awhile, Crouching Skinhead…

Madness Art Update

This blog is about my favorite subject: me.Mostly just writing about new strips I got in some really cool group comics that turned out bitchun, got good reviews, and are worth giving a look at if your into weird comic art. The first one is called On Your Marks. Its put out by Short Run press out of Sleazeattle. Every artist got one page, and the results are amazing. Usually I'm pretty critical of artists, but every page in this bitch looks dope. Max Clotfeller curated it. He does the dope…

Zines and Violence in Portland, Oregon

There is not a lot of violence in zines. There's probably some violent slogan's in some anti-government zines, but they're pretty vague and not very inter-personal; smash the state, hate capitalism, that kind of stuff. You don't find a lot of examples of zines being directly connected to violence. That's why what happened to me the other night is all the more fucked up.I did a poster for my friend's band, and he said I should come check out his gig at a house party. I don't go out to punk show's…

Deconstructing Radicalism

I think I must be getting too old or something, but it seem's radical politic's just isn't what it used to be.It seem's that when people are really going out of thier way to make a point,it's like something got lost in the mix. They're earnest, shit, they could even be 100% correct, but it just seem's....I don't know, kind of hokey.Dated.Almost cute in it's ineffectiveness. Is being radical that silly?Has time just sort of passed the need for this by?Maybe it alway's looked silly, and I just didn't…

Hipster's In Jail

Last time I was in jail,it sucked. They bring in all the new people at 1 a.m. or so.Then you see who they are at roll call.I think there were like 148 people on my tier,Dorm 14-Felony Maximum security.Anyway's,one morning they opened all the cell's,and this one kid wouldn't come out.He just kept moaning and whining. The gaurd yelled "Get up and stand on the line!".So the kid crawled out,but he could barely stand. He had diarrhea, and green snot was coming out of his nose.He was holding his…

My Dick Has A Zine

One thing about this website, and the community in general,is that it's non-racist,non sexist, and non homophobic.Working within the perameter's of this dynamic makes it challenging to be humorous. It's not impossible;it just takes more work.Lucky for me,I'm in the final phases of my court ordered sensitivity training.I've been taking courses in political correctness for 2 year's,to improve my sensiivity level, and beat an Assault 4 rap. It's eye opening,to take everyone elses comfort level into…

Dullsville vs. Slut's Inc.

Well,Real Madness Comic's #5 is out,and the review's AREN'T rolling in...I don't give a fuck though.Shit happen's slow in the zine world. It's 4 a.m. here in Portland Oregon.I just woke up,and I'm going to finish up a 3 pager for FLUKE fanzine, and mail that shit off.He sent me a copy to read (I usually go to Powell's to read it),and I'm not kidding when I say it was probably the best zine I've read in awhile.Fluke #11 has alot of killer art and articles in it,a Negative Approach…

Fuck Cultural Assimilation

Alot of people like to throw around big word's and point finger's these day's,judging what should and shouldn't be seen or done,in thier opinion. It's a cheap trick-an easy way to make yourself feel like your doing something.Everyone's got an opinion lately, and putting down other peoples stuff by slapping negative label's on it makes them seem validated. If your vague enough about what you say,and can make it stick, you can maybe organize a witch hunt,if your lucky.Cultural assimilation is one…

Portland 1993/4

The grow house was only 350 buck's a month. It got shot up by some Rollin 60's awhile ago.If you sat on the porch, junkies would hit you up for money and smokes,so they got a pit bull.It was 3 blocks off Alberta Street. They had another one a couple block's down-there were 10 1000 watt light's in each basement.Even I wouldn't live in them,so they just sat there, empty. We hung out there and partied,to make it seem like people lived there.Portland was different then-at least for me.Me and about 5…

Portland,1992

Time,to me,is meaningless.It could be yesterday,tommorow,next year,100 year's ago-it's a worthless concept.I just don't give a fuck.This whole joint could be a Philip K. Dick plot twist.I don't know.It's insignificant.I was living in California-North Oakland,to be exact.Right on Telegraph-it was a step up for me,from West Oakland-Ghost Town.I had this 19 year old girlfriend-real sweet,but kind of a bubble head.We rode around on beat up Schwinn's,smoking weed.I was drawing comic's.Protest's…

Bobby Madness,King of Punk Rock Cartooning

Well,Real Madness Comic's 5 just came out,and it's the last issue of the 5 issue comic/zine series for Tim @ Teenage Dinosaur.I was just down at the tail end of The Projects 2,and I'm proud to say I sold one copy!It took a lot of time to finish-I started it in the rehab.Tim snuck me in a bunch of brushes and art supplies, and I had to wake up at 3 am to draw, before my 8:00 meditation class.I hid it from everybody,so it wouldnt get confiscated due to violent content, like happened to other…

PZS Shit yo

Well,I hit the Portland Zine Symposium Saturday A.M.,and it was kill.I didn't have any new shit,so I filled my backpack with Real Madness Comics 4 and a stack of old Nerd Burglars I got for doing a comic in.I took my daughter down there with me,and I think she was probably the youngest person there.I got some ill trades-I didn't have to spend a dime.Plus she got a bunch of free stickers, including some Hello Kitty tattoos.Tim Root,a sick artist in his own right, had a table and gave me his new…

Portland Zine Symposium Madness Promo

Tim told me yesterday that the Portland Zine Symposium was this Saturday,so I think if my comic gets done by then,I will probably make it down there to try to trade some of them,or sell them. Its the last issue of Real Madness Comics,#5.Its sort of the end of my run with Teenage Dinosaur.I was drawing it figuring it would be my last comic/zine ever, and then I was going to move on to more successful, money paying projects, but most of the people I hooked up with were pretty broke.I'm definitely…

Top 10 Reasons I Love Zines

1-I can light them on fire and throw them in a gallon of gasoline and throw it into a store filled with flammable zines and watch it burn to the ground.

2-I can come up to people and be like "Hey!Hey look!Look at me!Hey!I have a zine!Isnt that great?I'm so amazing!Look at my zine!Look!Look at me!Look!Over here!Hey!"

3-I can sell drugs to people through my zine using encrypted messages,or soak LSD in ink and paint pages with it and mail them into prisons, using freedom of speech…

Dylan Williams,R.I.P

I think its cool people are reprinting all of Dylans shit online.Dylan was one cat that did sum up the proper ethos of what an independant publisher should strive for-he was down for the art,not the profit. Its a good way to be,since you arent going to make any fucking money anyway.Another thing that made Dylan cool was,he was a serious fan of comics.Zines are fanzines-made by fans of the art form-a nice way of saying,non-professional.Call it whatever you want.Theres definitely a loss due to…
