Do you use old photographs, postcards or ephemera in your zines? Or maybe you're like me and just tend to collect them and are drawn to them.
If so, check out my shop The Cedar Chest. Free Shipping offer from now till Nov 6th!

You can create a special pdxzines postcard and have it on the wall as a show of support during the Portland Zine Symposium. So, even if you can't be there is person you can still represent.
The 5 dollars to participate helps fund the zine sympoiusm. You can find out more here.

Do you have a photo or can you draw a neat header like image that shows a zine work space? You know, paper, scissors, cut images and text, glue, etc...
I am thinking of using it for a We Make Zines redesign. I would like the image to be a little vague in the content of the zine so can seem a general zine layout instead of looking very much like a certain zine. Make sense?
As for size, not sure exactly, but I'm guessing about 750 x 300. No need to include the name We… Continue

It's Sub Rosa 1
by Taryn Hipp. Taryn has done zines for a long time and I think I read her old one Girl Swirl, but I hadn't read her newer one. Sub Rosa 1 is still pretty old. She is currently working on Sub Rosa 6.
Anyway, here is why this zine was so good. You know how when you and a friend are talking about real life stuff and it gets very deep and you or they end up spewing out a whole bunch of fears and confessions… Continue

I posted this on my blog, but wanted to post it here too. Thanks to all of you for "getting it".
I am tired and need to wind down for tonight, but I wanted to post this while it was fresh in my head.
Driving to Kinkos tonight at 11:30 pm I thought what is it with me that makes me use my precious vacation time to stay home and make a zine? What is it that makes me stay in my house for 48 hours and work by myself on some folded pieces of paper?
I don't know… Continue

Have you seen that Google is giving away stickers they made - and they are only doing it through the mail. Pretty cool. You can find more about it on their blog

I spent most of today and all of tonight working on these:
I did not make them because I am selling them or even because I wanted to hand them out (although I will). I mainly made them because I wanted to create a freebie so that you and others can download the pdf and have an inexpensive, unique valentine to give to people, or so that people might be inspired to make their own versions.
It was something I thought about a couple weeks ago and I… Continue

I am working on getting together fat zines and zines that included articles about fat issues for a possible anthology. The zine would be a collection of fat zines over the last 10+ years.
I really want to do it and think it could be great, but am having a hard time finding the zines, especially some older ones. If you did one or had something about fat politics published in one in the last 15 years, please contact me asap.

My boyfriend is sick of hearing this, so I thought I would do a blog post about it. I am constantly reminded of how amazing this site has become because of all of you and how glad I am I started it.
Sometimes I get the time to really pop around from one persons page to another and seeing all the comments is so great. There are so many conversations going on here. So many little worlds. People seem to really be connecting and re-connecting. I feel such warmth for you all and for zine… Continue

I am doing some preliminary work on a anthology of fat zines and am looking for all that are out there. If you do or have done a zine on issues of size politics and fat issues in the last ten years, please message me. And please pass this on to anyone you know who would be interested.

Hello. I just added to my shop
some zine broadsides. Broadsides
were something that were especially popular in the 60's and early 70's. They combined poetry and art by presenting the poem as a piece of art, something you would hang on the wall, often they were illustrated and some were poster size.
I was copying one of my zines a while ago and thought how sad it was that… Continue
