A Review of My Zine A Few Words

Anu wrote this review of my zine A Few Words for a past issue of Zine World.

A Few Words: A standout poetry zine, Chantal has a knack for creating tiny little worlds within her poems. “Longing for Home” is touching love letter to New Orleans. “Revelation” has a great lesson in it that we all should learn. “Anarchist Valentine” details the ups and downs of a prison romance. Many poems touch on the magic of the ordinary, causing the reader to pay more attention to seemingly mundane… Continue

Review of the Flow Chronicles by the Urban Hermitt

I wrote this review a couple of years ago, but it was never published anywhere. Now I am posting it here.

The Flow Chronicles

The Urban Hermitt

Microcosm Publishing

I read a couple issues of the Urban Hermitt’s eponymous zine a few years ago and really enjoyed them, so I was excited when my partner sent me a copy of The Flow Chronicles, Hermitt’s first book. Like the zines, this book was super fun to read!

Hermitt writes about coming of age and coming… Continue

My Submission to Telling Secrets: A Body Image Postcard Project

The exhibit will run March 6 through April 17, 2009. Telling Secrets: A Body Image Postcard Project is part of the Girl Culture show.

Review of Indestructible by Cristy C. Road

While on the subject of Cristy C. Road, I thought I would also add this review that I wrote of Indestructible. This review originally appeared in Zine World #24.

Indestructible: This short illustrated novel by long-time zinester Cristy C. Road tells the coming-of-age story of a young, queer, punk woman of color having adventures and struggling through adolescents in the 1990s. I found the writing unremarkable, but the illustrations are phenomenal. The book is worth the asking price… Continue

Distance Makes the Heart Grow Sick: A Book of Postcards

Cristy C. Road

I really dig postcards. They’re the cheapest way to send a bit of mail to friends, a quick and inexpensive hello that doesn’t involve computer technology. Postcards are tangible and real, something that can be hung on the wall… Continue

Review of Anatomical Heart Necklace by Niku

This review originally appeared on the Feminist Review blog

I was messing around on Etsy.com when I stumbled upon this lovely and unusual anatomical heart necklace. I’m not much of a consumer, so I thought my desire would prove to be nothing but a passing fancy. However, I couldn’t stop thinking about this piece and didn’t stop wanting it. I finally decided that $10 (plus a $2.50 shipping fee) was a… Continue

A Poem a Day is READY!

This zine that is ready is the culmination of my writing for the A Poem a Day exercise. It's not the big compilation zine containing work by many poets. This one is just me.

I am asking $2 or cool trade for it. It has over twenty new poems, all by me. It's 22 pages, 8 and 1/2 by 5 and 1/2.

I think it's great! I hope other people will think so too.

To order it, write to me at
