Ro- The Apocalypse Girl's Blog (9)

Navel Gazer issue #1 now available!

My perzine, Navel Gazer, is now available for trades. Issue #1 has some butchered poetry and a short piece about gender identity. Issue #2 is about 50% finished. Illustrations are done by little ole me. :)… Continue

What title to use?

As a warm-up (since I haven't done a paper zine since college), I did a quick one-shot of my favorite Mae West quotes ripped from my favorite Mae West Quote book. So now I'm ready to start on a new zine. I want to do a per-zine, mostly about what I observe about people's behavior and how it never makes any sense to me. :)

Already I'm stuck for a title.

I have a few in mind and really just can't settle on which I like best. Opinions?

Ning passing around the collection plate?

One of the other NING networks I'm on just send out a mass email saying that NING is planning to switch to paid membership only- I couldn't find any announcement in the NING blog though. Does anyone know if this is true?

ETA- Yep, it's true. NING is phasing out free service. Read about it here - http://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/ning-update

Re: Carpe Noctem 5

Just a quick note to everyone who sent stuff in for Carpe Noctem 5- I just found out that I have to move out of my house, so the zine will be delayed while I find a new place to hang my hat.

Host-jumping

I recently found a new web host, Weebly.com. Hate the name, but so far there's nothing I don't like about the service. The interface is ridiculously easy to use and it has a lot of nifty features that I haven't seen with other hosts. So I'll slowly be transitioning all my online junk into one single Apocalypse Girl HQ.

Issue 4!

Oh man, am I glad that I finally finished Issue 4. The line art could have been better, but it was fun playing around with some new programs like MyPaint and Inkscape. Eliza's cover is thirty different kinds of AWESOME.

I think I might take a hiatus from Carpe Noctem for a bit, to focus on finishing Adventures In Living.

Put a poll up on Adventures In Living- what do you like most in a zine? Is it the art? Informative articles? Personal musings? Come on over and vote now!

Man it's been awhile...

I thought I'd deleted my old Ning account months ago, but apparently it's still valid. Good thing, I guess.

I have a main blog, and try to keep the off-shoot to a minimum, so here I'll just stick to the occasional zine-related stuff.

After finishing issue 3 of Carpe Noctem (no, not that Carpe Noctem), I've started sending it out for reviews. I'm going to try to get submissions for issue 4 and have that… Continue
