My year in zines: 2012

2012 was a ridiculously active zine year for me. It started with creating the StolenSharpieRevolution.org site to be a companion to my book. The site includes a Zine Event listing calendar. In February I attended the first L.A. Zine fest and it was great! In March I attended the …

Portland Button Works and Zine Distro needs your help!

This started as a dream, literally a dream, that slowly invaded our sleeping and waking hours.  We’ve been working on this for what seems like months.  What started out as cross-continent online chats, turned into coffee filled breakfasts and Google docs full of ideas.  Now those ideas are becoming a reality.

Derek Neuland and I have joined forces to create Portland Button Works and zine distro!  With a collective 15 years of button making experience, we feel our custom button…

Brainscan #27

A tiny zine that reads like a snapshot. 1/12 legal sized (3"x4") 28 page mini zine, A single story wrapped in photocopier art. This zine takes place in an elevator between a 9th floor divorce lawyer and the ground and a bike ride home. It explores disappointments and the human inability to consider endings.

"We rode 9 stories down in…

listen to our zine band: The Copy Scams

The Copy Scams are a the band equivalent to a 24 hour zine!

Steve was visiting Portland from the UK and thought it might be fun to start a band while he was in the US. While he was in Portland he lived in a closet in the basement of the Spiral

house and tricked housemates Alex, paul and Marc to form a band in three

weeks before the 2010 Portland Zine Symposium.

In those three weeks they wrote, practiced, and recorded…

Nobody Cares About Your Stupid ZIne Podcast!

So, Marc and I recorded the very first Nobody Cares About Your Stupid Zine Podcast yesterday! I did a bit of editing and I still need to do some more. I worry that the amazing theme song that Androo wrote for us will outshine our podcast. Seriously, the song is amazine (yes, that's right AMAZINE) we played it a dozen times and danced around the dining room!

I hope to… Continue

I've got grab bags All gone!

So, I have been having this battle with my zine collection and my shelves.
