I can't believe how long it's been since I updated things here. Since I last added photos or wrote, I've provided illustrations for a reading of "Herbert West, Re-Animator" at Monster Island Resort Podcast. (You can look and listen here: http://0316bfc.netsolhost.com/blog/?p=923). I had some of them made into postcards, which I'm selling at my Etsy shop.
I'm hoping to be able to start making more Monstress again, now…Continue

We started as a straight zine and now have a website as well. We're looking for people who're into the zine scene and would like to help publicise zines and zining by writing zine reviews and articles for The Flaneur. We are interested in art and culture, but as all zining is artisitic I don't see that this excludes any type of zine.
This is a volunteer position, so it doesn't matter if you email us one review, or if you want to get a login for the site…Continue

These are the two zines I created this year. They were each released already but have been repackaged and reprinted.
A tiny zine that reads like a snapshot. 1/12 legal sized (3"x4") 28 page mini zine, A single story wrapped in photocopier art. This zine takes place in an elevator between a 9th floor divorce lawyer and the ground and a bike ride home. It explores disappointments and the human inability to consider endings.
"We rode 9 stories down in…

The details are all the same as in the previous blog post, but I thought I'd share some cool news! Our headliners for the fest are ACxDC (straight edge power violence legends) and RESIST AND EXIST, arguably one of the most recognizable names in radical punk history.
To sum it all up, if you can be in Fresno, CA on October 15, you can table FOR FREE and catch some super good bands. I hope to see some of you there.
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact…Continue

I have two weeks off instead of just the one week I normally get, so I've been very busy with art stuff and making zines.
I just got done with Impossibles #3, a perzine about growing up in a strict fundamentalist community. Over this first week of break, I started getting the cover and splashpages ready for Impossibles #4. It is going to be about my experiences being a black woman in America and everything that goes along with that. I'm really excited about this one because…Continue

I used to stay up late, tapping away at my computer keyboard or reading a book when I should of turned the lights out hours ago.
Getting older I try to get to bed at a reasonable hour, especially if I am working the next morning. While I could stay up as late as I wanted to (being an adult does have its advantages) I find I have lost my night owl tendancies.
However when I am inspired, that is a whole other story. There have been instances where an idea has struck me…Continue
Over the weekend I ran into an friend who owns one of Milwaukee's awesome indy bookstores. I'd mentioned to him in the past that he should carry zines, and he's always hemmed and hawed about it.
When I saw him on Sunday he said he was open to having a discussion about it. So I'm asking for talking points to convince him. I think it would be great, as MKE doesn't have that many places that carry zines.
Questions I'm anticipating:
1) Which Zines? …Continue
