A new Addition!

I'm pretty excited because the OOAK Gallery just has it's first zine contribution arrive today: Best Dream Ever, a mini-comic by Don Picton. I don't have pictures of it up yet and I should be putting it up for sale in the distro before a few days.

I  had approached Don Picton, the maker of Best Dream Ever, about selling a few in my distro because it was perfect. The comix itself is a little larger than the size of my hand and, well, the OOAK Gallery specializes in small…

Zines!

Want to send a thank you and a shout out to those who donated to get the  Minibook Exchange going. I had even purchased some books from people to get some stock. I attended Cyphacon last weekend and ALL of the books were taken by interested readers. If I can get to more conventions, then that portion of the Minibook Exchange will certainly be an advertising success for zine and comix makers trying to get the word out.

And my zine library list has gotten quite long. Goodness…

Midwest Zine Fest 2013

It was a good first time for me at the Midwest Zine Fest in Champaign Urbana.  (Or, as craigslist calls it, "Chambana.")  The fest was on the Urbana side.  I drove down with friends Nicki and Meghan from SPOC -Self Publishers of Chicago, and they had a table.  I had my Junk Drawer table, which was actually two old card tables I brought.  Other Chicago writers making the trip included…

Chicago Zine Fest 2013

It was another great time at the Chicago Zine Fest, but I almost didn't make it.  The fest filled up on the first day of registration, and I had to get on a waiting list.  Fortunately a spot opened up at the last week.  Then I had to buckle down and finish my new zine that I'd begun slacking on.

I met some…

Trader Schmoes

TRADER SCHMOES

By Kari Tervo, Shards of Glass In Your Eye!

I have a new policy on trading: I'll send you mine when you send me yours. I rarely receive any of the zines that I was hoping to read!

Some zinesters are trader schmoes. They're people who promise a zine in return for a zine, but never send one.

A lot of trader schmoes are just…

'The Screever' issue two

A good three years after the first issue, me and Nat finally managed to complete the barely anticipated second issue of 'The Screever'. This one is A6, 40 pages long, and has a tonne of pretty cool people / stuff in it, such as folk-punk-troubadour Elly Kingdon, Stourbridge based experimental label Carnage Club, the wonders of 'National Theatre Live', awesome Birmingham-based publication Zine Arcade, and a tonne of…
