New Zealand zine review website

Hi all,

Just wanted to update that my friend Kylie Buck and myself have started a review site for NZ zines! We post one a week on Mondays, and are putting out an "annual" in time for Wellington Zinefest this year in November.

We accept zine submissions to review - zines are returned to the sender (if provided with a return stamp), or donated to the closest zine library. We accept zines made in NZ, or by New Zealanders living overseas (by discretion). Email for…

Zines Reviewed List

For some arbitrary reason or other, I've started blogging thoughts on some of the zines I've read that might fall into the category of "reviews." Though it's a minute stash I'm working from, hopefully there is a zine or two others haven't read. If you're looking for something new to read, curiosity is always welcome at: http://foggybottompress.tumblr.com/…

MinI-Zine Review: These Here are Crazy Times #2

I always mean to write a bunch of zine reviews together and I never do, so I think I will do a series of mini zine reviews here.

The other night I read These Here are Crazy Times #2 by Sarah May.

Here is her We Make Zines profile, but there isn't too much on it. I think I got her zine from Ms Valerie…

Anyone interested in reviewing zines for The Flaneur website and...zine?

Hi,

We started as a straight zine and now have a website as well. We're looking for people who're into the zine scene and would like to help publicise zines and zining by writing zine reviews and articles for The Flaneur. We are interested in art and culture, but as all zining is artisitic I don't see that this excludes any type of zine.

This is a volunteer position, so it doesn't matter if you email us one review, or if you want to get a login for the site…

some new (ish) zine reviews

Psionic Plastic Joy #16

Tabloid sized zine from New York’s Jason Rodgers that tackles the internet and our dependence on it (Jason has no email etc and sees no need for it), throws up some great mail art, conspiracy theories, cut and pasted words, theories, lives and enough grit to make your head swirl.  Finishes with a review of the doco Harlan County USA and an interview with Reality Impaired recordings Stan Bowman that adds a nice final touch.  PPJ always makes my head spin…

Zine Reviews : Not Lonely Issues 2, 3, & 4

I recently had the privilege to get a hold of the latest 3 issues of Hannah’s perzine Not Lonely (issues 2, 3, & 4) and have absolutely fallen in love with it. I knew after reading issue 2 that this was likely to go on my list of all time favorites and the next two issues didn’t disappoint.

Overall, Not Lonely is a very cute zine done in cut & paste style using a mixture of type and hand writing along with collage and hand drawings to create a very whimsical and personal… Continue

just finished mélange #2. can't believe how much energy i've put into this one. it's nothing like what i pictured when i first started, and i'm tickled by what this might say about how the "creative process" works. thinking about where my head has been while making it is making me feel very tired. gonna sit on it for a bit, clear my mind. hope to have it in print and circulating in a couple of… Continue

some olde reviews just to pass the time and revive the blogosphere

Z Gun – a yankee newsprint old school zine in a new world that had a great word up with Mike Doskocil about Drunks With Guns, has heaps of reviews for bands I’ll probably never hear cos I’m flat broke but has plenty of spirit, guts and leaves black ink on yr fingers. What more could you need in this new world of blogs and glossy personal zines and shite. I got mine from Big Star here in Adelaide which surprised the fuck out of me but then the world is getting’ smaller.… Continue
