"Crash" - a self help zine

Hello, first blog post. Well, I already have a blog. It's a tumblr that I'm fairly proud of, however this is my first blog post for WMZ. I'm quite excited to use this thing, and I really want to be able to meet other people around here. Sadly, I'm beginning to think that there's a lack of people in Melbourne/Victoria/Australia who are accustomed to the art that is…

nothing #1

first issue. half-size, 22 pages, $1, stamps, or trade. probably don't mail me a dollar because canada post employees like to supplement their wages where they can (just like anyone else). your best bet is to find me at a show (in brandon or on tour elsewhere in canada) or stalk me at work (please don't i'm paranoid enough as it is) or to mail some stamps, or to trade your own zine.

Absent Eyes #1

Mine and your zine Absent Eyes will be about How-to advice for low budget DIY projects, found art and pictures/notes, random or strange stories, or anything that strikes you as really funny or odd!  I am taking submissions for the first issue at absenteyes@yahoo.com    [the zine size is half page 8.5/5.5]   P.S. let me know who or where I should give credit to when sending stories/pictures/music/info (if you created it, then you get the credit, I am just sharing!).  Thanks....xoxo   - Bender

Trying something new is freaky

So I've been reading zines and had it in my head that I wanted to make one for years. And today I finally sat down and started to do it. I had my glue stick. I had all the stuff I had written and wanted to include.

Then I freaked out. I got scared that I would mess it up and it would turn out horrible. Finally I got over myself and started making it, but I am scared that it won't be good.

Will someone reassure me that it doesn't have to be perfect? What was your first zine… Continue

Dipping my toes into the zine-making water...

Don't know if you get many people on here just entering into the whole dipping-my-toes-into-the-water phase of zine making/reading (i'm attempting to do both) but my first attempt at making my own zine turned out...let's just say, amateurish. Truthfully, i mishmoshed it all together collage-style (clippings from magazines and papers) in two days, and put it together with a paper-mache-like glue, and thread binding.

I tackle things headlong and without…

The Infinite ZINE!!

Whooooo hooooo!!! I can cross it off of my never-ending 'LIFE GOALS' list: I have published my first real zine. Ya - i've done lots of those dinky ones to fill the boring summer days: reporting on the town's birthdays, giving reviews of the latest movie-release...nothing that packs any zest - nothing of this caliber. The FIRST INFINITE ZINE was great - it was amazing - it was inspiring - it was even a little smudged from the Xerox… Continue
