For the longest time I've been complaining about how there wasn't a zine scene here in Florida. So this week I decided to actually do something about it. I think that there needs to be a place like the IPRC and Boxcar Books here in Florida. There needs to be a space where people can just go to write or do art, and to make copies. I got two friends together and I pitched the idea, and they agree so we've started the process of incorporating, and when that's done we're going to file for tax… Continue

Hey everyone! I'm moving halfway across the country and taking my business with me, but of course I'd like to make the move as painless as possible so I am having a moving sale! All non-zine items automatically get 25% off of the retail price! (The discount shows up when you add the item to your cart.) Only the non-zine items are on sale, but this is a good chance to check out our zine section as well. :)

I feel rather bad that my first post here is going to seem so shamelessly commercial in nature, but I'm in the process of setting up a zine library in conjunction with a shop called SHOP here in Bristol, and we're canvassing for donations and contributions.
All the information is posted below:

I added two new zines to the catalog today:
- A Million Birthdays #9
This is another great, text-heavy zine by K, broken up into vignettes. K writes: “I have been writing down my stories – critical or not – for over seven years now and I don't really know why. It's like there's something that lives inside of me and tells me, over and over, if you are going to keep living, you have to keep writing. And so, whether or not anyone else is…

You may have heard that Tim and I were opening a zine distro. It's open! There are nearly 80 items in our mailorder catalogue, which you can see at takecarezines.org
We are going to be at the diy markets outside The Hub in Newtown this Saturday, the 16th of January, with a suitcase full of zines. So if you live in Sydney come and check it out and save yourself some postage.

Hello friends, and welcome to a new year. Hopefully everyone has decompressed from the stress of the holidays and you all have yr resolutions made and whatnot. I've moved into a new space, which is really small compared to my last, so I started the year off by getting rid of a bunch of stuff, which felt really good. I also got a bunch of new stuff for the distro, which felt equally good (honestly, i'd rather have stacks of records and zines than bags of yarn i haven't used in years). Anyway,… Continue

It's been a long while since the distro is opened. Lots of factors play into that but it's open now and I'm having a sale for it.
By the way, if the layout is kind of a hassle to navigate let me know so I can make it much more accessible. Thank you!
Sale has been long over!

It's been a while since we've added any new zines, so many of us working on zines and never finishing them, but yesterday the new issue of Sugar and Heartstrings
came out! We also restocked a couple, too. I've been out on tour for the last month, so I just started back to work today on some zines I was working on before I left. I included the rest of this month's update below for… Continue

Hey, this is just a heads-up on the new zines and comics available at Black Light Diner Distro
HIGH ON BURNING PHOTOGRAPHS #4
Ocean's personal zine is a text-heavy meditation on such topics as sobriety, coming out, tough girls, and voluntary spinsterhood, all wrapped up in a scrappy cut-and-paste layout. The highlight of the zine, for me, is an incredibly moving… Continue

The new issue of Mixtape has hit my letterbox and excited me just a little too much. I've stuck it up on my Online Store for all you shoppers out there..........
"This is a beautifully crafted zine. Since its humble beginnings, Mixtape has grown from strength to strength. What began as an exciting project between two crafty females from Melbourne has become a very professionally printed, full colour zine that is still all about DIY and a strong love of art.

Well, it's been open for awhile now, but this is the first I've talked of it other than on my own LJ and We Make Zines. Black Light Diner

I just wanted to post and say how EXCITED I am about today and what today brings.
Today is a zine fair at the Penrith Regional Gallery in Emu Plains. I am especially delighted today because I have loads of new stock in the distro and I can't wait to see Tiny Paper Hearts new felt animals. I also can't wait to find a new notebook to spew my thoughts into all the time. It's been far too long without a pen in my bag.
Besides this, I also just sent off some $$ for a zine grab… Continue
