Surprises from Headville

I draw this strip, or these strips called Headville (so far Winter & Spring (don't click Spring if you're in the Mini-Zine Swap!)), and last night on a whim I Googled "Headville". I guess I thought the only results would be mine, but it turns out there are other things with that name.

As far as I…

excited!

I'm super excited because I think I've talked my husband into co-writing a new issue of Comics & Beer which will actually be about -- gasp -- comics and beer. He may not realize he's a "co-writer," but he agreed to a couple of beer-related articles as we rated and discussed beers at length today (as usual), and he always has shit to say about comics.

I also have a video coming up on making one-page mini-zines. It's for my blog (…

HOLD ON TO YOUR COMICS AND MAGS -- The future's only round the corner

I’m pretty sure there are many like me who have a predisposition to hoard. The Aladdin’s Cave of any home is the attic or loft where all the unwanted stuff gets piled away and is forgotten — out of sight, out of mind. My attic is the home to many of my kids’ (now grown up) old toys and comics, lovingly preserved and…

A new issue of Bohemian Fuckup is now available, even though the first issue only came out like two weeks ago. Topics include obscure female fronted bands, white male feminist blues, My weird work history, self-hatred, depression, and other fun stuff!

It's 1/4 size, 16 pages. Issues are $1 or trade. email… Continue

Weekly Comics Trade

I recently started a weekly comics trade with my friend Matthew. He decided he wanted to learn how to draw and I decided that I need to draw more and want to learn how to make better comics. So we came up with the weekly trade! It's been a lot of fun and has really motivated me to draw a lot, something I really only did in the few months leading up to a new issue of my zine. Plus, having a collection of my friends… Continue

Report from Kids' Comic Con 2009

On April 25 my daughters and I attended Kids’ Comic Con 2009 at Bronx Community College. We were invited by Mike Weiss, whose daughter Jessica is co-producer of PB&J Comics and a fixture at East Coast zine fests.

This was a really interesting event. For one thing, I haunt some key NYC comic stores regularly, and never heard a thing about this (it was the third annual con). I’m not sure how it was built, but the turnout… Continue

MY COMIC

Hanson, a failed Spec Ops sergeant with a chequered past and a head full of demons, has been transferred to Crowley Island, an abandoned goverment centre where the dead and the damned feed on the living. Crowley Island was once a Necro-research facility. Hundreds were maimed and killed in the government’s quest for occult knowledge. Until one day, they succeeded in opening a Door. But what came through wasn’t what they had hoped. It was Hell. And now the only thing standing between that and the… Continue

The distro is online at www.zines.bigcartel.com and on my blog www.zines.wordpress.com. I've been getting HEAPS of orders online lately and having those smaller zines… Continue

Zinefest!

I am really looking forward to the zinefest in London, see my events bit for info, as I am part of the exhibition thats part of the fest. I havent had any of my comics in an exhibition before and Im really nervous that no one will like them or that they will seem totally shite next to all the very competant female comic artists. But I am also looking forward to being in an exhibit with fabulous women artists. Its just all so cool.

Anyway, I hope people will come and spend time at the… Continue
