Three Poems by James Nixon.

James Nixon's poetry taps into the relationship between textual and visual art by supplying a narrative, a structure through which we can begin to understand the painting as well as to view it. Each featured poem draws on the creative potential available when drawing together the latent symbols, contexts and ideas which emerge from the visual.

Cakes of Dolphin, Smurf, and Muno too

Butterfly, Barbie Doll with thousands of views

Baby items, aprons, and dresses to sew

You can make your own maple syrup, you know

Wreaths, snowmen, and Christmas logs are a craft

The crackle and popping and gentle rhythmic sway of the airwaves. I love the colours that dance and flicker and lick the air. I love the warmth it spreads. Not only externally but internally as well.

I have had a fire pit in my… Continue
