American Library Association Conference Chicago ALA 2013

The experience at the ALA Conference began like a zine fest, as I set up my Junk Drawer table and displayed my work.  But soon people began stopping by who were entirely unfamiliar with the zine scene.  I was unprepared for questions from one gentleman who asked me how I made money from zines, and if I knew how many of a particular issue would sell.  These were people from more of the business side of public services.  I realized that it was important to connect with these…

Chicago Zine Fest call for support.

This year Chicago Zine Fest is gettin' too big for it's britches. They are growing and looking for avenues to expand which comes with needed community support. Zinester Picnic in Chicago

Hey!

This idea came up at the post-fest meeting for the Chicago Zine Fest, let's have a Chicago Zinester Picnic this Saturday (the 14th)! You might also want to bring a blanket, or any items that make picnics fun, like frisbees or balls or hoola-hoops?

It's been quite a while...

Hey! So I still have some issue #1s left. Issue #2 was finished in late June and I have been pushing that one since then. I'm mega stoked on it because it's longer, has more reviews and interviews, etc...but I also got to do something I've always wanted to do and create a compilation CD. It was fun talking to different bands and record labels and getting their written consent to use music and stuff. I haven't sold that many yet, as I am trying to think of new and innovative/creative ways to get… Continue

Volume 1, Issue #1 of Squid Pro Quo is finally done!

I'm way new at this, I just have always loved music, writing and drawing so this past summer I thought, "Why not combine all those things?"

So I did, came up with Squid Pro Quo and finally printed it out. It's basically a punk rock zine with interviews, album reviews, cartoons and musicians' columns. At least that's what I've got thus far.

In issue #1, you'll find:

-Interview with Joe Queer and John P. Hayes (aka Wimpy Rutherford) of THE QUEERS!

-Interview with Tony… Continue
