Weird Procrastination Inversion

So yesterday I planned on working on the monster drawings I am going to submit to the coloring book issue of Lucky Creature Attacks. And instead of drawing, I procrastinated by doing actual boring work. I unpacked this box that's been sitting in my bedroom since I moved over a year ago. It's not like I needed anything in that box, either. I think it's just that I want to draw something different and I want the finished… Continue

Bitches, Bimbos and Ballbreakers

Okay so I noticed that the university bookstore was having a bargain sale, and me, being the ever impulsive buyer have decided to wander around... it was lucky though that even though this means im a few bucks poorer, I found something that's actually quite interesting, the book: Bitches, Bimbos and Ballbreakers by the Guerilla Girls, which is quite an old book but nevertheless interesting. I've only browsed through the pages, but will probably post a review as soon as I finish going through… Continue

Helen Mirren review + the new dumb/SULK trigg-er microzine

I wrote another review last week for the Big Issue (a British newspaper sold by homeless vendors, with them keeping 80p of the £1.50 cover price).

It was for a live High Definition broadcast at our local cinema of a National Theatre production of 'Phedre', starring Helen Mirren (who played the Queen) and some dood out of that 'Mamma Mia!' movie:

Musea E-mail club #477 Major New Publication on Puccini by Fellow Zinester

Readers,

Fellow zinester Iris J. Arnesen, editor of "The Opera Glass" has just announced the release of a new major work on Puccini's operas titled "The Romantic World of Puccini: A New Critical Appraisal of the Operas" ($45 from publisher McFarland & Company).

It's always a treat for me, when zinesters I know and trade with, get published. Iris's book is now available for pre order at Amazon Books and I'm sure it'll be widely available soon.

Hello there!

Wow, can't believe it's been 2 years already! And what a fantastic, amazing, incrediable 2 years it's been! I never dreamt when I opened marching stars with about 12 zines it would grow into what it has today. The last year has been difficult at university, but I was determined to prove everyone who said "all distros close when the owner goes to university" wrong!

Thank you SO… Continue

Short review of Candy Box

Here's a review of my zine Candy Box that Madrea Marie is going to include in her zine:

Chantels friend from the UK sent her a box full of UK candies. Chantel then decides to document her candy eating adventure. She rates each kind of candy and describes its taste, texture, and appearance. A nice added touch is the candy wrappers throughout the pages. It is a very cute little zine, and made me want to eat some chocolate!

Musea Art Contest 6/29/09

The answer to, and winner (if any) for,

our last contest question of:

Matisse and Picasso were both rivals and great friends. They were also arguably the best artists of the century. Each influenced the other more than the other would admit. Let's go back in time. Picasso just unveiled his new picture, the groundbreaking masterpiece that would change the world of art forever, "Les Demoiselles, d'Avignon". What was Matisse's reaction when he first saw the… Continue

I'll get to MY 'Ithaca'

I need to visit home.

I have to see my friends.

I NEED to be with my family.

Yeah, i know, those are three lines I never really thought I'd have to admit to. But alas, I do. And zines and crafts just might help me make it happen. How? Well from this day til before Christmas (my target date), I'll save every single cent I make from my zines/writings/poetry/crafts/photography for the plane ticket. So I'll have to apologize to everyone if my prices cannot be SUPER low as I… Continue

New Projects

It's been forever since I made a zine, let a lone an art zine. Today I'm going to brain storm on possible ideas for an art zine and hopefully I'll start on the project tonight.

Also, I have completed dinosaur vs. robot #6. Sadly, it is going to be the last issue of my comic journal series. In its place, I have been working on a comic series called Devil Bids Us Skoal. Perhaps in the future I'll do a… Continue

Sybil's Garage No. 6

Hi All, I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to all members. Thanks for the great resource.

I produce a zine called Sybil's Garage. It's primarily filled with modern speculative fiction, poetry, and artwork from the early 20th century. I started it in Hoboken, New Jersey, but have moved to Greenpoint last year (hence the G train symbology in the current issue). Here's a picture of the latest cover:

Adult Themes is DONE!

I just finished doing layout for Adult Themes, and I am super excited about the cover!

I am also excited about my writing in the zine, although by the time it was all done, I really needed synonyms for moan, clit, cunt, cock, and rub. I am in awe of sex writers who can come up with unique descriptions for sexual body parts and actions. I ended up resorting to using "prick" and "dick", two words I'm not all that fond of.

In any case, the zine is all laid out. Within… Continue
