Things You Say zine distro - 4/7/10 update

I added two new zines to the catalog today:

  • A Million Birthdays #9

This is another great, text-heavy zine by K, broken up into vignettes. K writes: “I have been writing down my stories – critical or not – for over seven years now and I don't really know why. It's like there's something that lives inside of me and tells me, over and over, if you are going to keep living, you have to keep writing. And so, whether or not anyone else is…

lit/art pack idea: submissions wanted

Above are my inspirations.

I am inspired by the old zines, where nothing is exactly the same and the contents are a surprise. So I was thinking of collaborating with a few zinesters here on wmz to create 10-20 unique lit and art packs that have different pieces, works, lit and other ephemera inside.

Quarter-sized and/or mini zines are welcome, so are little flyers, ephemera, novelty items, poetry, photogtaphs,… Continue

Canary Sing named their hip-hop project after Danny Senza’s quote from Caucasiathat states “The mulatto in America functions as a canary in a coal mine…Likewise, mulattos have historically been the gauge of how poisonous American race relations were”. Junk Drawer Zines in the Big Apple

Some Junk Drawer zines can now be found in New York City.

All are for sale at Bluestockings bookstore. They have a fine selection of books and zines, and a few Chicago zines. Junk Drawer issue #1 is in the zine library collection at ABC No Rio.

Both these places are on the Lower East Side, and are worth checking out. They are great supporters of independent writing and zines.…

New Zines Up!

A few new ones up...

Loose Lips Sink Ships (Zine) ($2)- In Loose Lips, Ms May delves into the dangerous territory of the make-out zine; a genre that gets a lot of flack, yes, (and usually rightfully so), but this, like all her zines, is done really well and focused in a way that changes it into something else entirely. A short description for each… Continue
